Advice on What size rim\tires to get

I have a 00 tacoma 4x4 with a 4inch lift. The person I bought it from had but 20inch rims on it and huge 10 ply tires that weigh about 70lbs ea. They look pretty cool but this was not a good move. These tires have done nothing but tear up my truck, rob it of its power and it rides like crap.
I am going to change out the rims and tires but don't know what size to look at. I like the look of the bigger rims & tires but want more of a 4x4 look instead of the bling it has now and I am really more about the over all performance than the look when it comes down to it.
Any advice would be appreciated

I don't like that look of it very much right now. You might try 18's to give you more of a mix between big wheels and somewhat of a 4x4 look.

 

Thanks- I was thinking 18's and as I am looking I realize how much I don't know a thing about tire sizes. If I get 18in wheels what size tires should I look at to start with?

 

Well it's going to depend on your setup. With a 4 inch lift you should be able to fit 33's easy, but don't take my word for it, as I am basing this on my second gen knowledge.

Here is my truck with 18's and 32 inch tires.

 

Go with 16s and 33" tires. Youll definitely get the offroad look and your tires will be MUCH cheaper than those for 18" rims.
