Where is there so much hate for black gauges? Lol. If you think about a lot of luxury cars and high-end trucks have black gauges. Hell probably the majority of all cars. The only car I've ever driven or rode in that's had white gauges is probably a Mini Cooper.

Update with another email from the OP

"Thanks. Another side note: The drivetrain is completely original except for the driveshaft which developed some wear in the middle slip joint at about 600,000. It has passed every smog test, every 2 years with the last being in June of this year with 970,000 miles on the odometer. And the original air conditioning works great with nothing replaced. (I did add a can of refrigerant about 6 months ago.) I should hit the one million mile mark about the 3rd week of January as I drive about 6,000 miles a month. Have a great Holiday season. Richard Gordon"

I believe it when he says ac still works! The ac on my 96.5 taco still works and very cold. I can't deny it it blows my mind as my truck is a complete utter disaster from the previous owner just abused it tried to kill it as a trail truck for many years. Even with leaks in every system it still starts and drives with as many years as it spent in Florida swamps those are some seriously hard earned miles. Hopefully will keep my odometer running to see 300.

How is your gas mileage? I was thinking of using my 04 DCSB 4x4 V6 for a courier service. But I didn't want to fill up every day or wear my truck out. I suppose the armor I have and being 4 wheel drive doesn't help me either. Where they need me to deliver is up into the mountains and snowy conditions everyday. But I do only have 252,000 miles on my truck. With no major repairs. Just regular fluid changes & timing belt kit replacements etc.

Right but he can take the time to email this random guy and not just put it directly here. Conspiracies are fun.

Toyota may want to take his picture to use in ads.

No way they are giving him (or anyone else) a new truck to replace it.

And even if they are, it's a million low maintenance miles. Why would they expect a cream puff?

    Why not?
Didn't they give the guy who hit 1 million in his Tundra a new Tundra?

Not the first story of a million miles on a Toyota I've heard about... Pretty sure I read one in a dealer pamphlet about the 2wd Tundra. I think the owner was also a courier of some sort...

Dunno. If they did, good for him. And if they do with this guy, good for him. Don't begrudge either of them.

It just doesn't seem reasonable. But maybe Toyota thinks it makes a cheap ad for reliability?

I do think the taxes on something like this are pretty harsh. Many folks who win such prizes have to sell them to pay the taxes.

Well, he'll get to work through all that if he's fortunate enough to be handed the keys.
