Can the center caps be swapped out without removing the tire?

There may be a way but I was told by Dustin that the wheel needs to be taken off to switch the center caps. I bought both styles because I wasn't sure what direction I was going.

Thanks, I was going to buy both as well, was hoping I could just pop one out and stick the other in as I please ;-)

265/70r17 toyo open country at2s. 100% stock no lift no problems...

I did the rough math for the inertia. With the wheels being lighter than stock, the toyos were as well. But the overall size being taller and wider ends up being a 3 percent increase. This a simplification with a few assumptions. I put these on with 16 miles on the truck so I won't be able to compare to stock, but I did the speedo recal so we shall see how the mpg is. With only a 3 percent increase in the inertia, I would guess it's still gonna be pretty good

It's definitely possible, but the risk of either ruining the paint, or even the cap itself would be too great.

Why not get the TRD caps and cover them in 3M film? Lots of colors to choose from - even carbon fiber if you want. Peel them off when you want to change over and make a template for the future.

It really depends on the lighting. This was taken near sunset. The color is just a little lighter than MGM.

yup it depends on lighting. certain angles too. hard to capture them in pics, they stand out nicely against mgm.

I did a check on the MPH using the signed on the freeways and saw no change or actually I see it right on the money using the same wheel, and same sized LTX defender tire. The wider wheel might pull the tire down a little. I did a fuel up and math read on the truck and found it almost the same as the dash board which was around 17mpg. My response to your post is only giving others info when deciding to change the stock wheels or tires.

my first tank was right on the money too before installing the calibrator. (not enough since yet)

im going to guess that the 1 inch taller tires essentially made up for the difference on how the stock set up reads slightly slower

I just filled up and so far this tank is showing 14.2 avg lol. Maybe the tire and wheel combo really wacked the system out.

my first tank was 18.2 before the speedo recal. but that was with the tank from the dealer. I like to do the fill to click/trip meter reset to figure it out.

given the cold/warming up time/use of 4 wheel drive for the tank, i probably would have been around 17.5 on my 2nd gen. so to be just higher with these rims/tires under these conditions... ill take it. with warmer temps/summer blend gas, it should end up around 23-24 mpg. i usually averaged around 21-22 on all my 2nd gens

Not sure it will help you seeing other blemishes since they can be random. Mine was a mark inside the hub and could have been used as regular wheel and no one would have ever seen the blemish.

Maybe Dustin can give some more insight on the particular wheel he is sending?
