Fair amount of issues with leaking after launch to market but I think that's been sorted.

Just bought it 3 days ago (less than 10,000 mls. Plan on a 4" lift, winch, bumpers, and we'll see what else. My ultimate goal is to replace my 2005 Jeep TLJ Unlimited.
My mistake, it is an Off Road

My mistake, it's a Off Road, and I'm still looking for a 3-4" lift. I need it as a chase vehicle for my RAM 3500 4x4 and my Wrangler LJ.

Higher lifts typically run into drive train and alignment issues. The higher the lift the more you spend to correct them.

There's lots of good info on this site. Take a look around.

Accelerated wear on CV joints, transfer case and the need to run Upper Control Arm (UCA)/Lower Control Arms (LCA) are a few reasons most of us stay away from lifts > 3".

Actually the more I look into it, the happier I am I got an Off Road. The identity problem was mine, not the dealer. I have owned many 4×4's lifted aND not, right now I have the Taco, 2013 RAM 3500 4x4, and a '05 Wrangler LTJ. Toyota, from what I now see, is quite a bit different from my TLJ and Ram. I was just wondering what brands you recommend and don't. What brands to stay away from. Just looking for the idiosyncracries of the tacoma.

OP, in answer to your original question. I (and many others) are very happy with the Old Man Emu lifts. It's definitely the best value for the money. I'd recommend 885 front springs for your 4x4, V6 DSCB.

get with Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road she can school you a bit, and great prices to boot.

budget will determine a lot. you can get a good lift for $1500 +/-, (OME / Bilstein) or go balls out for a fox, king, or icon stage whatever for many thousands, which would be front shocks and coils, and UCAs, and rear leafpack and longer shocks and brake lines in the back
