Bajrack info from Bajarack owners

Hi everyone, l'm looking for some feedback from current or previous Bajarack owners.

I'm considering either the standard rack or the mesh rack. Any advice or shared experience will be much appreciated.

1. Did you have Any issues with installation?
2. How is the wind noise?
3. Assuming a standard TRD Pro 2.5-2" lift, Does it fit easily entering into a standard garage?
4. Entering a touch less car wash might be stretch, but still curious If you've tried it?
5. Do you think the previously reported rust issues have been resolved with newer racks?
6. Would you choose a different rack now that you've used the one you have or had?

( I already ruled out Prinsu and Gobi )

Have one.
1. Did the install myself. Was not too bad. Get a set of leather punches for the roof strips. And copious amounts of silicone to be safe.
2. Not noticeable to me.
3. IDK. I don't have a garage.
4. IDK. Hand wash only.
5. No rust (yet) and I live in NE. The salt capital of the world.
6. Really like the rack. Super solid.

I love it, it's sleek and low profile. I use it for my kayaks.

 

Yes. I like mine very much.

Wind noise is acceptable I can drive up to 80 miles an hour no problem doesn't bother us at all.

I don't know what I touch lesss car wash is.... I use a broom stick and a rag to wash the roof and it works.

I don't think you'll have a problem getting into garages.

Owned since 2012. Had one replaced under warranty for bad powder coat. Both my racks were delivered bent due to welding warp. Both racks were returned for straightening.

I also had a ton of fitment issues, all resolved by Baja rack and at the expense of my time. That should all be fixed by now.

I have the flat UT rack.

 

How are you guys mounting stuff to this rack? I have non-mesh version and for sure will be throwing my TRED boards and camp table up there. For now just gonna use ratchet straps

 

I just got small u bolts and use them to mount things down when i need to.

 

Check out the latest post in my build thread. Have been working on an idea for my boxes. Currently waiting on the quick release pins.

 

Hmm that looks like a good idea. All I would need is a long bolt and knob. And nuts and washers

 

That is what I have now. Playing with streamlining it a bit. Will post up in my thread how it works out once the QR pins come in.

Can I ask why you’ve ruled out Prinsu?

I ask because I’ve had both. I like the Prinsu better for a few reasons. I won’t expound unless you’d care to hear.

 

I just got the baja used from another member at a good price. If not I would have went with prinsu

 

Had mine since august 2017, installed myself, no rust. Just one issue, had a leak in the front drivers side, removed the rack siliconed the hell out of the mounting holes in roof of the truck, no more leaks. It does have wind noise, but not too bad, and I'm currently researching how to make it more aerodinamic.

 

Does baja make one specific for a short bed shell?
