Visiting family for the weekend. I'm going to be mad if there is some substantial weather. I loved playing in the snow and ice the last time.

Git fiddle was throwin me off. Ive played in a few rock-hard rock bands and a couple years ago i was in a prog/metal band with a bunch of guys that were way better than me... But they were nice about it and tried to tell me i was as good as them haha. That was the last band i was in, but i play at my church and have been for 8 or 9 years

Git fiddle just sounds so much less pretentious. Haha

That's what I'm really into and wanting to do. But I did play in an Eric Church type deal in mobile. So it itches enough of my rock thumb and paid a lot better than a typical rock gig so I was content.

Trying to identify your git fiddle from your avatar. Obviously not a Fender. Maybe a Gibson or Epifone?

Got to tour the Gibson factory in Memphis a year or so ago. Very interesting and makes me regret not learning to play a guitar.

Love music except opera and have a friend who is the lead guitar player for Mobile Country Music Association. He is a Fender man.

That was visiting Carter'a vintage shop in Nashville. It was a $60k '59 Gibson goldtop. There was a '56 in there that was like $120k that I played but I didn't much like it. Couldn't afford either, of course...

What's the fella's name? I may know him or at least heard his name in conversation.

I have some friends from Mobile coming up for that. I told them they were crazy to pay that much

U might could pay me $250... I figure $50 worth of liquor and a set of ear muffs and clear $200 in a couple hours might consider it

I will talk to my sister about place you could start playing, she is really big into that stuff and a lot of her friends are musicians that play downtown bham and Nashville.

Zack, his name is Joe Chunn and he is a big George Jones fan. His friends who went to school with him as I did know him as Norman Chunn.

He grew up here but played most of his career in California and Las Vegas.

In addition to small dances here he also plays in Hattiesburg and Boloxi, MS.

That would be really cool, I'd appreciate it. I'm too much of a hermit to go out and just chill at bars unless I have a reason to be there (like...playing) lol

The name Chunn does sound familiar, but I know for a fact I've never met him. Wel...I say that. But there were a lot of nights I didn't remember much from the next morning.

What were some of the places you played in Mobile?

Ever try a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster? My friend seems partial to them.

I think I remember that Gibsons were made in Montana (acoustic ?) Nashville (Custom) and the electric Gibsons and Epifones are made in Memphis?

Most of the places we played were in Mississippi like Hattiesburg, Laurel, and the Lucedale area. We did play at Bayfest the last year (2014?). We played at Cockeyed Charlie's on Airport a few times, the Pelican Reef down almost to DI, and some places on the Eastern Shore. Actually we played in Birmingham once back in 2014 also.

I've got pretty much anything you can think of. I am partial to Gibson styled stuff, but I have several strats and had a couple teles. Only have one Tele left though. I did a mass exodus of stuff before we moved. I sold like 14 guitars cause I didn't feel like moving them and they rarely got used over the ones I still have.

I believe they still make the majority of the electrics in Nashville, but they do have a separate line that are made in Memphis.
