Just came in from walking and playing with the dogs. Filson wool ball cap, LL Bean wool jacket, Carhart pants with silk long johns, and these boots. No gloves which was stupid I have a dedicated pair for throwing toys for the dogs, my fingers are a bit numb yet. Typing is fun LOL. My feet are toasty I'm impressed. They are starting to loosen up a bit and I put my foot up on the steps and tighten the knob a little bit and bingo. Perfect fit. I'm impressed. Will know better in a month or two but think I can wear these to drive in and walk the dogs, etc. I went up a half size from normal and almost perfect but have normal dress SmartWool socks on yet. Glad I went up a half size.

Try a pair of Alpaca wool socks instead of regular wool , I hate regular wool itchy etc etc friends of mine have an alpaca farm got some from them and was like damn. You can find them on line . I also got an alpaca wool watch cap for really cold ie below zero with wind and it is sweet just wish it had a bill to keep the sun / snow out of my eyes.

Ha, I know a guy that had a beautiful twin cam bow. It was camo. He leaned against a tree while trailing a deer.....never saw it again.

On a side note, much sadness, my Tundra failed inspection today. Apparently ( and according to the shop owner) these trucks have ball joint issues and require frequent replacement. He asked when I changed them last. I replied " at about 170,000 miles" he said " well you got some life or of them then"

Yeah. That's only 85000 miles ago, I'm bummed. The last set lasted 170,000....

Are there aftermarket better ones ? Would it be worth putting them in if your going to keep the truck much longer?

The last ones were moog. Thought they would've done better than that though.

Keep the truck? My daughter wants to inherit it. ...

I actually watched the Red Wing video to figure out how to loosen the damn things LOL. Red Wing isn't far from me, I like Red Wing boots. We have a hospital\clinic there and I am the first to volunteer to go there. A lot if most of my footwear is made in America. Or Italy. Or Austria. But by far America.

I have some Alpaca socks picked up on STP a number of years ago. They are soft and agree, but for some reason none of them really agreed with me. Have a lot of Smart Wool merino wool socks and after a few years they get thread bear on the bottom. So last couple of years been trying Damn Tough from Vermont. Life time guarantee but they have less merino wool to make them last longer. Still looking and sounds like it is a very individual thing with body sweat and composition, etc. Still looking for the perfect sock. I do know there is no way in hell I will ever wear cotton socks again LOL, been years. Take that back I do wear a cotton composition sock for working out in the mornings but not for long and they go in the hamper ASAP.

:sorry: That is a common complaint with boots and people with wide feet. I feel for you, that is a hard one from everyone that I know who has wide feet. I have a narrow foot, flat with no arch collapsed, etc. so finding a decent fitting boot is always a journey. Have learned when you do find one that fits well buy 2 because the SOB's in charge will change it up by the time you need a second pair. Think you already know that though.

My steel toed Engineer boots were much like the jump boots. And made by the cheapest bidder. No doubt in my mind that the damage to my feet was caused in part by Uncle Sam's footwear. The specialist I work with in Sports Med at Mayo agrees. He would know they help with physical training of the Navy SEALs.

I got some inserts for planters fasciitis at MCRD about 15 years ago and, while they still work, I'd like to get another set. These things are a very durable plastic and, even though they sure don't look it, are very comfortable.

Assisted living is expensive and will drain the life's savings right out of you, some of the guys will soon be diabetic with the sudden urge for cheap snack cakes, good boots are hard to find, zero gravity chairs need to be bought when the sale starts and we talk alot.
