I've installed but never rebuilt one.

 

Installing (actually removing) is way harder than rebuilding.

 

Has anyone in this area delt with radon testing? I'm in York county and selling my house. I have never even heard of radon before last week when we signed a sale contract and the buyers want a radon test. From what I've read over the last few days this area is a "level 1" for radon contamination and the house will most likely fail, then they will swindle us into either deducting the cost of a radon system from the price or want us to install one.
Any recommendations on a installer that won't fuck me dry? I'm already not making any money on the sale.
Im convinced after the sale the realtor, home inspector and radon people all high five and go to the bar.

 

This is good advice.
Radon testing is common in PA, some mortgage companies, and insurance companies require it.
If you can, deduct and run, as about a tenth of system installations end up with issues.
I just sold my parent's place near Pittsburgh a year and a half ago that passed. Wishing you the same luck.

 

Beware....A friend of mine just Re-did a house he bought off his in-laws,with the intension of keeping it,so didn't cut any corners.Decided to sell,buyer wanted raydon test,(seller hired) told him his house had radon,he did research and where the company did the test were all wrong (on perpose)set up testers near a sink in the basement.Vapors coming from drain will give you high readings.HE hired his own company they did test came up clean.HE told the RE againt to hire another company they tested and it came up clean...LONg story LONG do your homework.
