Have you actually owned a vehicle that made it to 600-700k km with original engine/transmission?

Nope for me, never over 100k on anything.

    EDIT: That's 100kms, or 60k miles.

My shop helper has a 2005 GMC Sierra 4x4 with the 4.8 V8. He's maintained it from the day he drove it off the lot new. He said the only thing replaced is batteries, tires and brakes. He's at 546k miles currently and it still runs like a top. He bought a brand new one last month, same truck because he is worried this one is going to die soon even though there are no signs of this happening. His new truck hasn't moved since he drove it home. Kind of crazy.

Nope. Doesn't say I expect it. But I'd sure be happy.

Do know one person that owned an old VW rabbit TDI that had over 1m km on original engine 3rd transmission though. It was almost all highway driving though

Had a 1986 Dodge 600 with 430k on it before it was given for scrap. Sat in the driveway for 7 months. Rear axle seized by it still started when it was taken. Just needed some help with the carb.

Sounds like my wife. Mazda 3 has 3k miles on it, it's a 2014. Looks nice in the driveway though.

That's pretty amazing. I was just curious because 600 to 700k km is quite a bit. I'm currently around 205kish miles and I can definitely tell the transmission is starting to slip.

I do my oil changes about every 3k miles or 6 months whatever comes first. I don't put too many miles on a year.

LOL I remember carbs in cars! It's been over 25 years since I owned one though. A 1985 F-150 straight 6, got rid of it for a POS 1991 F-150 that got lemon lawed. Still miss that truck.

Edit: Miss the 1985, not the 1991.

Sometimes not driving a lot could do it to not last. I worked with a guy 2 years ago that had an old 90s Saturn with 600k+ km on it. All highway original motor and transmission. Drove it every day around 350km each day round trip

Friend just rid of his 1999 Audi a4 with 370k on it and he NEVER took care of it. No clue how it lasted lol. And it was still running when he got rid of it just leaking head gasket.

    If I get 400k km I'm satisfied.

My TJ Jeep straight six was the best. Then Dodge took over and went to their V6, that was the death of the Jeep IMO. That straight 6 was one of the best.

I've seen delivery vans from some of the suppliers with 600-700k km. Not sure if it's original motor though. But hey it's possible if you do lots of driving.

I've heard big rigs can do 600k miles before rebuilds
