Lifted '16 Tacomas

It's a 3 inch spacer front and a 2 inch block in the rear with shocks running toyo at2 265/70 17 but looking to change it to 285/70, rides like stock imo and my wife won't give it back to me now lol

 

My brother in law is doing a very similar build, he has a 2nd gen though. I didn't do either, I read a thread where someone had the diff drop and hit it while wheeling and it did some major damage, the consensus was replacing the CV boot if necessary is a lot cheaper. I keep reading mixed reviews on doing one so I'm holding off for now.

 

This 1600 RPM at 70 mph needs to stop lol can't wait to get my gears installed.

 

Gotcha. I have both kits on the way. Maybe I'll hold off on installing them.

 

Do you have the off road with crawl control?

 

Here's the thread on the diff drop, if nothing else it's an interesting read. I've never seen anything on the sway bar relocation maybe I'll look into it.

Wht do you have in the rear?

 

2.5" block with Bilstein 5100 extended length shocks. Factory shocks can't be used if you're lifting more than 1.5"

 

Does the CRAWL control have anything to do with doing a diff drop or sway bar relocation? I have an off road and am pretty set on not doing a diff drop but I haven't really heard much of doing a sway bar relocation.

 

Ready lift says to not do the diff but to use the sway. I read above someone says the stock shocks can't work with a 2" ready lift block in the rear... is this true?

 

I wouldn't go more than 1.5" max on stock shocks. I went up 2.5" in the back. My stock shocks were almost fully extended at ride height, only about 3/4" in down travel. Obviously not safe and will ride terribly. With a 2" block you'll have between 1"-1.25" down travel which is still far from enough. I ended up buying extended length Bilstein 5100 shocks.

 

Would you recommend doing toy tec add a leaf instead?

 

The method of lift is your choice, the end result is the same. Anything over 1.25" - 1.5" lift will require longer shocks.

 

what front bumper is that

 

I saw a post with pics showing the how close the sway comes to the coil
after lifting. I'm doing the relocation kit just to be safe. It was $30.
