Yeah, you're right. To say doesn't look like it "at all" was a bit broad. It's the same save for the cargo light switch.

Thanks for all the great tips in this thread - especially where the plug behind the kick panel is located. No problem loosening the kick plate on my 2017 SR just enough to get the harness plugged in. I ended up going with the Tekonsha Primus IQ and 3017-P harness. Got both on Amazon for less than $80. We pick up our TT on Tuesday, so haven't had a chance to test it yet. The trailer is a Jayco Jay Flight SLX 154bh -dry weight 2555 lbs.

Does your knee whack that when you get in and out of the truck?

When I get in I have to watch where I put my right leg, but it clears it with no problem if I'm paying attention. The controller isn't in the way at all getting out. Left knee never hits it. I'm 5'8" and slender just for reference. I might end up moving it to the tray. The manual control on this one is on the front right, so it should recess more than the controllers that have the manual control on the bottom?

    Thanks.

I've had knee whacking controllers in my last couple of trucks and wasn't crazy about them. I'm actually tempted to just tuck it out of sight on the kick panel where i can reach down and adjust it while driving. I don't pull every day. When I do, I pretty much just set it when I first hook up the trailer and leave it alone.

So does the panel just snap out to give access to the switches from behind? I need to install a power switch to the blank switch area on the right.

So what the progress on the panel? Put me down for one for the P3 when you get the panel into production.

This install does not look that bad. Start at about 1:30 in.

I'm thinking about mounting my controller in the center Qi charging cubby. Has anyone seen one mounted there yet?

Just got my P2 mounted. This is the location I always mount my brake controller in my vehicles. I never accidentally kick it or touch it and it's easy to reach in an emergency.

I installed my controller today in the Qi Charging Cubby. No banging my knees into it and still within easy reach! I still need to extend the harness so it can reach behind the kick panel. Does anyone know if they sell pre-made extension cables to extend it or do I have to cut and splice?

I dropped mine into the cubby left of the steering wheel too since I have no plans to use that space.

I just cut out a slot in the back of it for the harness:

image.jpg Thanks skylinekin! Order placed. Product received. Install with P3 complete. Perfect fit! Thanks ESP! FYI and as mentioned in earlier posts the P3 will stay powered for a few (10 - 15) minutes and then shut off so don't fret that something is screwed up.

Your probably going to have to extend and cut, I was looking at doing the same thing. Then I realized that when I was putting the brake controller in various spots to see how it would fit/look, that the passenger lost their cupholder, or I lost access to my secondary one/aka my gum and lottery ticket area. Plus putting it on the right is counterintuitive to me as most brake controllers I have ever use are on the left side down by my knee on the dash, so the muscle memory is to go there first if I need to apply the manual brake.

Keep us posted with what you end up doing or if you find a longer extension for the brake controller. That looks like a good install by the way.

    Thanks

    Steve

I took the lazy way out and bought another harness, but with just the Toyota Plug attached, this way I just had to make 4 splices instead of 8. Worked like a charm!

BTW, both cupholders are fully accessible.
