Probably just need to re-torque everything after the lift install.

Alex, I have and their's is at the top of my list. When you look at their photo gallery you can see what I am talking about. The photos that show the grille with the letters painted really look great. From a distance the grilles that have the letters unpainted, you can't even tell there are letters there until you are up close. So, might as well just get a plain grille in my opinion.

Cool, I'll go ahead and redo that. I took her out on a pretty decent shakedown run and was a little upset if I managed to damage something on gear that should be more than capable of handling it...

Should I go back to a shop to have it done, or is it stuff I can do at home with a torque wrench and some common sense?

I feel ya. I'm looking at their economy version, and I think that with my colors it would be high enough contrast, but with black on black it would be hard to tell. I have also been looking at the ebay grille inserts to make my own... maybe something like that would work better for you?

It happens with new parts. Sometimes things have a way of working themselves loose especially after a decent shakedown. And re-torquing is a common and good practice after 500 or so miles, less if you are putting the parts to work. Slim to no chance that you damaged any of the Icon stuff. Likely just a loose bolt or two. Anyhow, with some hand tools and common sense, you can easily do it. You just need the following sockets/wrenches.. 14mm, 17mm, 19mm and 12mm which pretty much covers every bolt/nut in the front end.

Yea, I don't know. I mean I like my current grille, but love the other. But, might not be able to make it work. Hoping someone on here will have the solution to my delema.

As always, you are a font of knowledge. Tomorrow on shift I may go take a looksie under the hood. I figured it would be impossible for me to push the truck as hard as some others but you never know. Thanks again!

Why not buy the grill you like and buy a section of stainless steel or chrome plastic? Make your own chrome insert so it stands out and matches the other chrome on your truck.

No problem, always happy to help. In all reality, you'd likely damage the truck before you damaged any of the Icon stuff... So I wouldn't stress about it.

That would actually be pretty cool. I was considering trying to backlight that area but that would look good for like, 3 minutes and then look tacky. I like your suggestion a lot more.

@Gjr003 , where do you get the Ram mount for the Hondo ? Or does it come with it?

Looks like he has the same ram mount that I picked up from Amazon. Hondo Garage sells the ram balls and arm in a package deal.

I have done quite a few custom and competition car stereo systems. I've also used quite a bit of plexiglass for different custom projects. You could use 3/8 or 1/2" plexiglass, paint it any color you want from the back side, drill small holes on the edges and countersink LED bulbs into it. When you countersink the LED bulbs into the plexiglass, it illuminates the whole panel from the inside however you don't see the actual bulb. It takes some time, some electrical knowledge, some soldering, but would be one of a kind.

Little tree air fresheners. Clazzio black leather seat covers.
Well my 16' off road has more features plus a sunroof that I like. All the bells and whistles.
Why the hell can't the pro come with a sunroof?
Someone can buy a off road with all the bells and whistles. Put King or Fox coilovers and rear suspension, good wheels and tires. And be cheaper. Doesn't add up that's for sure!
At the dealer they had a 4Runner with a spacer lift.... $1300 for the "lift". $250 lift kit you can put in by yourself. Dealer markup is rediculous!!

Have you looked at the Custom Car Grills? This is an album of black trucks:

You can also get the letters outlined like the below picture:

I feel ya. I feel confident that my TRD OR with the upgrades I have rides better than the pro for less money. The "uniqueness" of the pro is cool though! Definitely an important aspect for some people. Different strokes for different folks!

Lifted my Tacoma 3" including Bilstein 5100 extended rear shocks for about $350-$375 Dealer pricing is always insane. Keep in mind though, you're paying them for labor also.

Chris, you may be onto something here. I could paint the back chrome and than do the leds. In your experience, when painting just the back of the plexiglass, does the paint show thru enough so the letters would look chrome?

Also, I am a good craftsman but I work with wood. How would I get the letters cut? If I cut them in my limited experience with plexiglass, the edges would turn white.
