Honestly, my equipment that I manufacture is probably too expensive for many small gyms. I cater to high schools and colleges mainly. Mine is designed to take high abuse for many years and is not lightweight. I want to get into crossfit gyms though.

If you check out those 3 companies and put a list together, I can quote it for you and give you a good deal.

I have no desire to work out, much less do crossfit! I get my workout in by slinging all the steel around.

I'm saying cleaning up chalk is one thing. A little moping and done. Cleaning up sand whew. Stacey and I are still cleaning sand up from the garage when I was training for the spartan and had sand bags to throw around.

 

Well the idea would be for the sand to stay in their boxes

I seent it someplace but can't find it. Similar to this but the carpet would be sand and it would be offset slightly lower than the standing platform so it would have a lip to keep the sand inside

 

I feel like sand would get everywhere.... maybe look into some other material that is good at absorbing the weight?? Some sort of rubber type mats perhaps?

 

Yeah but it'd have to be a big lip super tall to keep the sand from bouncing out.

☝️ This that's what our platforms are made out of. They are sunk into the ground with a this foam type area for you to drop the weights in. The standing platform is made out of some hard shit with the arsenal logo made into it.

 

Also @ThunderCookies when people go to unrack the weight they have to get in the sand pit to take the weights off and then it tracks over the pace across their shoes. Then you have to deal with the sand sticking to the weights and transferring to the racks etc etc etc.

 

Well this is going to be my training studio so it's going to be me and one other person most of the time. I'd be able to manage cleanliness, I'm pretty OCD anyway...

At this point I'm just thinking out loud though. Like I said, I'm at least 2 months out. Finishing up this cert first

My platforms have 3/4" thick rubber over plywood on both sides. They absorb the weight very well. Carpet wouldn't be good at all. Sand I'm not sure. I envision someone raking it like a sand trap after every use.
