That is until it hits the bedrock then we are in trouble from debris flows but that would be a high monsoonal flow that we haven't seen in decades.

I'm amazed by the desert plants. It doesn't take much to get them green, but they keep getting greener and brighter as the rain keeps falling. The Palo Verde turn almost fluorescent green.

We can get some nasty debris flows here especially bad along hwy 38 and Mill creek below the San Gorgonio wilderness area

Looking out my window right now all I see is green but in 2 months at most it'll be dried out and brown

Still coming down pretty good. I'd say about 6" so far and now the winds picking up. Weather Guessers are predicting 8 degrees tonight with the wind chill.

That's why I like it here near the Colorado River. Green year 'round. Not everywhere, but we do have it and the majority of my work is along it or a tributary, lake or reservoir. It makes work just that much nicer.

Day 6 since we got blasted by ice then sub zero temps. It is up to 8 above now which is supposed to be the high. Been keeping the bird feeders full and suet feeders. Didn't think about it but with ice on the trees the woodpeckers have a hard time, and why I'm going through so much suet.

Walked by the sliding glass doors to the deck and a pileated flew off. Don't often see him and extremely rare to have him on the feeder or close to the house they seem pretty wild compared to the other birds. Put on a coat and hunted him down.

Like usual he didn't sit in one spot for long.

That's the coolest woodpecker I've ever seen.
I just went and made my outside rounds.
Sun is out. It's still cold but at least it's above freezing.
    Bird feeders are all full.

Hydraulics is a very powerful force. 3 or 4 years ago the Imperial Valley got a good shot of that. We get them here too. New Years day I had to go repair a road that was washed out because we had campers on the other side who couldn't get out. The decision a lot of times is do we put the biggest and baddest repair in, hope it holds and have a bigger mess if it doesn't or go for a simple repair that we know is going to blow out and have a more predictable repair in a better controlled spot? It usually comes down to dollars and how much it's used. ADOT does an excellent job with their washes and crossings.

Just got my bathroom sink drain unplugged, my wife and daughter have long thick hair. I want to replace the drain but it is in the wall behind plaster. Jim the snake master didn't let the 40 year old cast iron drain pipe win. The bath remodel is getting higher up on the list. This Old House is not all that much fun with a face full of stiches. 19* snowing, blowing,I'm in my recliner.I hope everybody's having fun.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Well... The new faucet was purchased early cause our handyman called at 8:30, and said that something had come up, and he couldn't make it till around 1, and the plumber was scheduled for a noon to 4 window. Then the handyman got here 10 minutes before the plumber, and said he could just take the sill out, take it home, and route/refinish it and bring it back. Given that the taller faucet has a magnetically secured pull-out wand, and the shorter one was already loose when I took it out of the box, we opted to go with the taller one.

Sounded like a win, so then he discovered that since it was a replacement window, the sill couldn't be removed, so he broke out the router, and routed it in place. Gotta say, he did a good job. It does need a little sanding, and some paint, but we both prefer the taller faucet.

Double oven is in, new cook-top is in, faucet is in. Still need to wire the oven, and hook up the gas for the cook-top. Pictures later. The only thing remaining after today will be the backsplashes, which are being cut, and will be installed on the 16th.

Overall, the renovation was mostly painless - well, except for the pain in the wallet...

I think it'd be worth the trouble for some heat tape on each run and plug them in for the winter. Yall get some nasty cold weather up there.
