    Sounds like you did it correctly, couldn't hurt to manually adjust them out some more (I would do it with the wheel off so you can spin the drum while you're doing it). If you do go too far and the drum locks up, just get something thin and pokey to push the adjuster arm off the star adjuster, then back it off with the screwdriver.

    I swapped my original thermostat last month. The rubber bellow thing was breaking apart and I was finding chunks of it under the radiator cap. My truck warms up so much faster now. I discovered it was hardly ever leaving warm up mode as my coolant temp was 20 degrees low. Instant cure to fast idle.

    My dealership actually offers 3 different Toyota coolant options. The correct one is dependent on the model year. There is a 50/50 pre-mix one that is for newer vehicles, but the correct one for our trucks is not a pre-mix one. It is red and thick as Kolton mentioned and you add water based on how cold the typical temps range.

    T-Stat is the first easy option but it could be the radiator too. If the coolant isn't circulating thru the radiator correctly, you will have the same symptoms you are seeing.

    Well I blew up The 00 radiator when I got the truck and I put my radiator on from my 04 which was the one from the wreck but it has been fine for over a year through other cold and over passes with no issues ever. I hope its just the tstat lol
