It doesn't matter as long as you have enough hose to make it from the boost reference port to wherever you're mounting the sensor.

Don't feel like an idiot. I always buy more shit than I need, too. You have mount Biscuits, I have mount Loginfailed. :D

I actually enjoy doing electrical work in my vehicles. It calms me.

    Fair enough.

I think I'm going to pull my Tacoma into the garage and give this a whirl.

The importance and pleasure of doing something productive that also is calming cannot be overstated. There are a few things that have that same effect on me, including working on my Tacoma. If I can't sleep at night I'll start researching stuff and creating spreadsheets if not outright work on my Tacoma. Wiring though has always made me nervous for some reason. Mental roadblock, I know.

Thank you very much, man. :fistbump:

I'm going to tackle the boost first since it's the easiest, and then the AFR. Need to read a bit more on how and where to connect the PLX module with the AFR gauge before going hog wild.

For those of you who have a steering column mounted gauge pod (e.g. Flexpod), how did you route or hide the gauge wiring down the top of the steering column? Flex loom?

    A measurement of success:

I routed the vacuum through a plug on the passenger side firewall since it was the closest inlet into the cabin and I didn't have to cut or drill anything. Maybe next weekend I'll install a grommet so that the opening is sealed. From that opening, I ran the hose to the pressure sensor (I Teflon taped the threads before attaching the FNPT-barb fitting) and routed the harness along the firewall and behind the carpet to near the steering column. I grounded the whole shebang to the firewall.

One thing: the gauge backlight is on regardless of whether the headlights are or not, so that's not going to fly.

When I wake up in a few hours and install the AFR, I will redo the wiring so that both main power wires go to the IGN2 fuse and the all four of the lighting wires go to the tail light fuse. Add-A-Fuse, aren't you the breast?

Nice! The gauge looks good. What kind of gauge did you get? Is it Speedhut or something else? Did you end up using the PLX module thing?

Thank you man. Yessir, all SpeedHut Revolution series gauges. Bewst, AFR, and Fuel Pressure. The latter is on its way and will be installed later on.

No PLX module was needed for the boost. Fail.

Cool, so where'd you stick the sensor? Did you freeze your nads off out there?

My white wires from the gauges are hooked to a green wire at the fuse box. In position 10 of the white 13 pin plug.

One of the white wires is for the needle and the other one is for the backlighting. So you could do the backlighting to the dash dimmer and the needle to the parking lights. I may redo mine that way at some point to see if I like it better or not.

This is mine with Unichip, drop little earlier, but goes only λ0.8 = about 11.8:1.

Man. I was triple layered, and I was still cold in the closed garage. Moving around helped but damn, Houston isn't supposed to be this damn cold.

The sensor is in the cabin zip tied to a little post. I'll take a picture this afternoon.

Thank you for all of your wiring notes! I may try running the wires to the dimmer as well when I install the AFR gauge today.

Now here is the fun part if you wanna make it super duper cool! Tear your dash out and tap into the green wire for the dimmer on the gauge cluster. Thats what i did because i thought some day i would want them dimmed when i drive. 83k miles and i have dimmed them probably 4 times on a night time road trip.

The green wire is the parking light wire. The dimmer wire is green with a white stripe.

Don't tear out your dash. Just remove the two 10mm bolts. It's much easier.:boink:

Guys, @WOODEX M.E. is a great resource as well. If he's willing to share his knowledge, he's a good man to listen to. We're all becoming more knowledgeable together. :)

Here is a pic I found on google because it's too cold to go outside!

Lower left there is a 10mm and another one on the lower right behind that little flap there. The rest is just clips and it pulls right off.

IMG_3643.jpg@WOODEX M.E. you've been boosted for a few years already, right? Your post of the Speedhut gauges is what led me to their website.
