You mean the brakes? Not at all, the Tekonsha P3 Brake controller help a lot, it's a proportional braking system, so the more you push your brake pedal, more this controller gives power to the trailer's brake, so you almost doesn't feel the weight on your back when braking.

 

I added stage 5 ebc setup on mine. Definitely stop better but not overly sure it's needed with a brake controller

 

haha brakes... Sometimes you get going and are not paying attention. Thats good to know. I am looking at 18-20ish feet and was concerned that there would be brake fade or that it would feel sketchy.

 

...^^^...From my experiences .... the 4.6 in the Tundra is not as good as the 4.0 or the 3.5 in the Tacoma. The 5.7 in the Tundra is a bear.

I have had the 5.7, 4.6, 4.0 and now the 3.5 and under load the 4.6 is not great in a Tundra .... these are only my experiences.

How much drop did you go with for your weigh safe?

 

I got the 4" drop version. i am not lifting the truck so it works great.

Finally got to ride my dirt bike for the first time in 5 years. Lost health insurance in college and finally got coverage with new job and spent last season fixing/tuning my bike while I took my wife riding on her new quad we got her.

The trailer is 450 pounds. The quad is 420 pounds wet. The bike is 225 pounds wet. Had about 200 pounds of gear and other shit in the bed.

It drove pretty well. It tried to downshift into 3rd going up a steep hill with the cruise control on at 55. I killed the cruise and used my foot and it stayed in S4 the rest of the way up the hill. Drove between 55 and 60 for about 150 miles over the course of the day and has 19mpg overall. Trip contained 2 mountain passes and we drove them both ways.

I'm happy I got to ride and happy how the truck handled the load. I know it wasn't much, but this was the first time I've towed more than a couch on this trailer and truck.

Any one towing trailers and deciding if they should go with airbags or WD system, a friend sent me this video that shows what the difference is. Nice set up. Have you transported your bike in the back of the truck or just using the trailer. I am debating on if I should get a small trailer like yours or just load up the bike in the back of the bed.

 

This was the first time I've ridden the bike since I got the truck. I had the quad in the back all last season for my wife and the tailgate goes up but the quad is not as long as a full size bike. One bike and gear should be fine in the back of the truck

 

Had my truck for about a year. Been busy, so have not had time to do any camping. I think part of it was that we had a 14 Tundra before the Tacoma, and was dreading towing with the Tacoma. I went to storage yesterday and picked up the trailer. Doing a short trip with it this weekend.

 

What is the size and weight of that trailer? And how was the Tacoma pulling it?

 

Its a CTS192RD. Weighs about 4100 dry. Picked it up out of storage yesterday, and towed her home. It actually did much better than I thought she would. Have a weight distribution hitch and brake controller. Did not mess with the weight distribution hitch yesterday since we were not going but 10 miles. Will definitely have to be more careful when loading and packing supplies to make sure weight is distributed correctly.

We bought this unit 3 years ago. Not the exact one we wanted, but got a great deal on it. Have thought about moving to a smaller/lighter unit, but they are so damn expensive and are not as nice as this one.

 

I pull my horse trailer, 3800 lbs, with 1 1200 lb horse and it does great. If I put 2 horses in it , another 1200 lbs, it struggles a little.

 

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I guess you have not read that 3rd gen Tacoma's can't tow.

 

Need some help and would like your opinions. I finally installed my Tekonsha P3 brake controller using the ESP Truck Accessories panel today so I could put the controller in the small pocket to the lower left of the steering wheel. Next up is to order a pair of Sumo Super Springs to help take the load off the stock shocks when the trailer is hitched. The trailer I'm looking to buy is the R-Pod 180 which comes in at around 3000 lbs GTW. My question is what would be the best WD/Anti-Sway hitch to buy for this trailer or do I even need such? I'm leaning towards buying an WD/Anti-Sway hitch to make towing this trailer as easy and safe as I possibly can since I'm a newbie when it comes to pulling a camper trailer. Been looking at these models:
