I think see what you are saying but wouldn't they all end up being 18yrs old + anyways? If that is the case, a lot of those guys would still already be drafted and prospects of said club, by that point. Look at last night's game. Most of those players are already NHL property anyways. So wouldn't it be the same thing, if the Olympics went that route? Unless I'm mistaken, with what you are saying?

 

That is what I'm saying. And ya I had not thought of it that way. I liked it better when the young guys went. I guess at least now they are pretty close among the country's that play. Unlike basketball lol.

I'm cool with it either way, honestly. I just love watching hockey, in general. Just not sure the casual fan will be interested in Olympic hockey if the Crosby/Kane/Ovi household names aren't there.

 

Dat WJHC game... What a game! I hate that it got settled by a shootout but that was one closely matched game.

Proud of the Sens bright future and draft picks; most specifically Chabot, Ahl, Dahlen and White. Can't wait to see them in Senators uniforms.

Ya, no one likes to see a Championship game end that way. But it is what it is.

 

This is why they changed it to 3 vs 3. In a regular season game going to 2+ OT is pointless. There arent as many shootouts this season compared to normal 5 vs 5 OT.
Another way they are going to try and combat this in future seasons is by reducing the size of the goalies equipment. Should see more goals and hopefully less OT.

 

He meant in the Medal rounds for the World Juniors (at least that is how I took it lol).

The problem with amature hockey at the Olympic level is that countries cheat. What if Russia gets the KHL declared a developmental league? Should we be okay with our next generation playing the top end of Russia's system? Probably not. There is no way to do a fair tournament without allowing best on best. Those glory years in the 90s that get people hard thinking about Juniors were right after the USSR collapsed. Right when the USSR collapsed and shortly after Russia had to play fair. Now they could give two shits. Give teams an ounce and they will take a mile. May as well let them throw everything they have at us and allow our team to answer with the same.
