So I took the truck out in the snow and slush today. Drove great on 4wd hi. Just curious if the salt and chemicals they put on the roads will be ok for a few days on the truck? I'm guessing it should be but wanted to ask.

A few days won't do much harm. This winter I run the truck through a touchless car wash w/ undercarriage spray at least once every two weeks. Every week would be better.

Do you live in an area where the salt / chemical application is common, or are you just in an area right now that has salt?

It's best to prepare the truck for salt exposure before winter with products like Fluid Film or equivalent.

Thanks for the quick replies. No, we get the once a year snow and ice. I plan to take it to the wash when all the crap is melted and dried off the road. But I have to wait a few days or else I'll have to Saran Wrap the truck on the way back from the wash......lol.

Oh okay, then I wouldn't worry quite as much. We get the potential for salt anywhere between November and March, so I prep my truck in October.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just wash it off when you can.

Mine has been setting for 3 days now. I refuse to move it until the roads are dry. Which should be 2 or 3 more days. My black princess is the only shiny vehicle not covered in salt or brine in the projects parking lot. :)

City around here throws down salt every time the weather man says snow. I take my truck thru the car wash and hit the under carriage spray about 2-4 times per week. I pay $240 ever six months for unlimited washes and it is worth it. Been doing it for the past 13 months and zero swirls or scratches. I also clay bar and wax.

Yea I can't wait to rinse all that crud off the truck. Can't turn on the water outside due to the freezing temp and can't go to the car wash since I still have to drive back in that slush. I was surprised at all the crap that kicked up on the sides and back.

Yup, I can't turn the water on outside because it may freeze the pipes and the driveway would turn into a skating rink.

My 2005 Tacoma got 10 years of road salt on it for 6 months per year. I washed it maybe every other week. You'll be fine.

You could put salt down on the driveway...
