Weird. Tell me again who has the best selling pickup. What are Tundra sales? Oh ya thats right. Just wait when ranger debuts. Some fan boy nonsense in here as usual.

Ford won't come close to competing in the mid-size market.

Durability. Gas mileage is better. Torque/power. Smells good and sounds cool.

Ranger maybe a serious contender. Ford has a huge opportunity. Toyota left their guard down.

Fan boy? You've got a lot longer list of toyotas than myself. Ford is junk plain and simple, and tundras suck. It's either tacoma for me, or something that can make some good power, whether it be a Chevy or gmc lol.

It depends on how serious they want to get.

If they do a Ranger version of the Raptor, with the 2.7EB V6, it will rule the midsize market (as long as dealers don't mark them up to the moon)

The 2017 Raptor starts at $49k which is an astounding bargain for what you are getting.

The apparently $20k markup that some dealers are tacking on makes it less so.

Enthusiast. Fan boy is someone who loves something and defends it even without evidence or prejudice. Fords are far from "junk" as you allude to, my family has owned nothing but fords, my brothers 1994 Ford Explorer is still running on original powertrain, etc. But continue with your blind fan boy ignorance.

Why would anyone want an overly complicated diesel engine with EPA issues over their Ecoboost? Ford Disels are rampant with DEF and DPF issues, everyone I know has had to replace them multiple times.

    Thank you.

I was going to comment on my Super Duty with 200k+ miles that hasn't shed parts in the driveway, exploded, or killed any innocent bystanders in the years that I've owned it.

But my personal experience with one wouldn't matter, since everyone knows they're all junk.

Apparently mine just didn't get the memo.

lol, right. I mean I love my tacomas but there are other great vehicles too out there. Some people here. This is why toyota will likely hold onto the mid size market, people just blindly buy what they think or perceive is the best, not that the tacoma isn't, but lets be honest too. like someone else said I guarantee ford will come out swinging with the new ranger.

All of the emissions equipment won't be durable, especially for people who do a lot of city driving. I can buy a lot of gas for $5-7k and have way lower maintenance costs with my gas engine. I would consider buying a Ford (one without electric steering) but no way would I consider buying a diesel unless I consistently needed to tow the heaviest of loads.

2017 Ranger in Australia can be ordered with a 2.2L diesel, it gets 34 mpg supposedly. Can also come with factory locking rear diff, crew cab.
Other than the def thing, the new diesels are quiet and don't puke out exhaust like the older styles.

If my Tacoma got written off and there was a new Ranger out, I would likely take it over the Tacoma. The only thing that would keep me with Toyota is the aftermarket.

Disclaimer: I have never owned a vehicle that isn't a Toyota
