Heated seats install?

I'm looking to install heated seats in my '16 SR. Does anyone know of any good kits that are a decent price but good quality?

 

When I did my 2007 - I used these:

I had them for about 8 years when I sold the truck. Never had any issues.

 

I used the Dorman universal ones but I would look for something else. There is a seam in the middle of the bottom cushion that they need to fit around. I would look for ones that can be trimmed as needed.

I did get the Dorman's in and they work well but it was tight getting them between the seams.

I was looking at Dorman's, but I was thinking that id prefer getting heat on the seat bottom and back. I was looking at these watercarbon ones on Amazon, but honestly to me it sounds like you shouldn't trim the pieces to fit.

I've done the rostra ones in 2 rigs now. The ones with 2 heat seatings.
I love them. Trim to fit back and bottom.
I put them on keyed power.
I got mine from summit racing. Like under $80 I believe.
I haven't done them on a taco but in the rigs I did buy a set of hog ring pliers and rings at ace. And just used side cutters to cut the stock ones off one side of seat bottom so I could filp it out of the way.
2nd winter now and so far so good.

The Dorman kit in the link is for ONE seat so you get one element for the bottom and one for the back cushion but you need two kits to do both seats.

His list of tools should have included some first aid supplies for the cuts and scrapes that you will definitely get while doing this. Sucks to get blood on your nice new seat covers.

 

Wal mart, autozone, oriellys, etc have universal seat heaters you can plug in your cigerette plug. I put mine under the seat covers. The only down side is the cord but you can tuck it way. Works fine and cost $20.

I'm just nervous about the electrical...

 

I got these in the mail today and now I have them installed in the seat and I will have the electrical all done later hopefully.

After installing into the seats, it wasn't nearly as bad as it looked. It took me about two hours to do because I'm also new to installing things, but its done and you cant tell I went in the seats and installed the pads.

 

I added heaters in the rear for minimal cost when swapping to leather.. Waiting on the weather to break so I can wire them up.. However, trying to figure out where to tap for ignition source? Kick panel fuze box or engine? Each heater kit has it's own relay with 15amp fuses. Is it safe to wire both relays to single ignition source using a 30amp fuse instead?

 

Dkhorse74, my friend did it for me because he has experience with it. He wired the two seats together and fuse tapped them into ignition 2 and it works just fine. Hope that answers your question

The switches fir perfectly under my AC controls. I also cheated and just put them ON the seat (I have side air bags and did not want to mess with them) and put seat covers over the heater pads. They work GREAT!

 

I used the Metra IBHS2 when I installed my Clazzio leather seat covers. They work great and get really hot.

It would be nice if Toyota made an OEM "heated seat" kit. I'm sure all of the factory wiring and plugs are already in place.

 

I'm determined to do this but, would much rather go with OEM factory parts. So far the aftermarket kits I looked at are not so appealing.
