Im looking into a back up camera, I'm looking to have one that I can just have on constant while driving since I can't see dick out of my rear view. I know it should be easy enough to modify a normal kit to stay on, I'm wondering if anyone has a brand suggestion. Amazon worries me a little bit theres a lot on there but they all look like the same units. Bonus points for a monitor that I can hook 2 cameras up to, front and rear ala @jberry813

I have a 2012 with the problem, got the Hewitt tech bypass and after 1 faulty module they sent a replacement and not a problem since. I recommend it as a solution if your out of warrenty until Toyota does a recall for them. I would not buy the Hewitt bypass unless you currently have the problem, some trucks never have this issue.

It's strange that Toyota made a programming change post 2013 but won't claim the 2012 as a recallable issue!! Seems strange....

my big issue is, where to put the monitor? I started looking into double-din touch screen stereos, yuck, what a pile of fugly-to-use messes those are. I don't want to spend the better part of $1000 on a fancy deck just to have its firmware go obsolete and not get updated after 6 months. I want this to be a nav system too, and I've yet to see any that work half as well as my old Garmin. I hate having stuff floating on top of my dash, or vacuum-cupped onto my window.

If I had a 2012, I'd do it in advance of even potentially having some problem that puts the truck into limp mode. Gotta avoid the rage episode that would ensue were this to happen out in the middle of nowhere.

I hope it doesn't flood up there. Have the furniture on blocks just in case.

Went for a motorcycle ride this morning...for those that know the area; Moody Road to Page Mill to Alpine, down Pescadero and into Duarte's for breakfast. Then Stage Road over to Hwy 1 and Tunitas Creek up to 35 and down Kings Mtn and home.

It was definitely raining and windy AF. There were times I couldn't see shit and there was a lot of crap on the roads and a couple of downed trees. Nothing like what's happening up in Penngrove and North tho.

Keep a obd code reader in the truck and you can clear it. It only faulted for me every 300-400 miles. I felt with it for a while trying to get the dealer to fix it. If your under 80k miles and OT happens the dealer will cover under the emissions warrenty!!

Been without power since 9:15am. Bored as fuck. Wife and kids complaining. On a well so no water. PG&E has no approximation of when power will be back on. Ugh!

Haha we had one yesterday and it was flooded as fuck lol. Hoping not to get "the call" on my way back to bay area or in the next 5 days because of this flooding shit. They already called MPs in I guess because of it. Best part is I have ZERO CIF gear lol. So I will hopefully pull the "I'm staying here at the armory/ncoic" card
