New guy here ! 2013 pre runner 4.0 I bought this truck cheep and want to keep it ! Truck was submerged in brackish water to just below the exhaust manafold. No water in engine, transmission, rear or fuel tank ! I have replaced the starter and alt. Crank sensor and all of the O2 sensors. I found the PCM to be bad so replaced it with used one out 2014. There are no blown fuses and relays all check out. At this point the truck will start and run for a couple of seconds then quits. Also have good fuel pressure in the crank position. Kinda scratching my head here ! SRS maybe ? Please send input !!!

I think you will need the Controller to be recoded for Your vehicle. See the dealer they should be able to hook you up.

subbed. 5 months back my 2009 truck sat in 8ft deep water for about 4 hours. Good luck! I was able to get mine back. My ecm did not need to be replaced. toyota has a sealed ecm so it shouldnt have gotten water in it.

News flash couldn't get the solis to communicate with my ecm so went to plan B ! Crossed pins 4&13 inserted key turned to on position for 30 minutes turned key off removed jumper wire and the truck started YEH ! Truck runs fairly well but I still have issues ! I ran a few key cycles then decided to hook my el cheapo scan tool to the data link and voila there talking ! Checked trouble codes and had 13 removed codes and ran a few more key cycles ! Check engine came back on the 3rd cycle ! So I checked codes and came back with 4 permanent codes ! Here they are P0102,P0113,P2438 and P2438 now I need to find the fix for these codes ! Any input would help !!!

Truck was flooded during hurricane Hermine in Citrus county Fl. On sept 1st. I have no pictures yet as my phone sucks but will work on that ! I just had a thought could the cats be plugged enough to cause these problems as the truck sat awhile after the storm ! All O2 sensors have been replaced !

grab yourself a new denso MAF, I tried cleaning my flooded one and couldn't get it to work, my front factory cat shit the bed and plugged the exhaust to the point of throwing misfires after about 5000 miles were put on it post flood. If you do get it running, you'll most likely throw more codes in about a week for the evap cannister by the gas tank. Run dry gas in your tank for a couple tanks. It wont hurt and its good piece of mind. I assume you're changing you oil liberally at this point from the hydrolock. New plugs would be a good idea too.

it was flooded to exhaust manifold ?

    a) likely your secondary air injection system is really fubar, a real code, since
it was at the water line or under water

    b) maf, could be wiring harness

    ---------------

there is a reason most flood cars are written off and junked. wiring harness --almost always-- requires a
front to back 100% replacement to get everything working and glitch free

so, if you just replace secondary air and maf and it runs, fine. but it might start
blowing codes on other random stuff for the rest of it's days

flood vehicles are best for parts, not driving... IMHO

start with a new MAF sensor. Mines an 2009 so I dont have the secondary air system but work the bugs out and replace parts as needed on that till those codes go away. sounds like the water wasn't that deep so your charcoal canister might be okay! wait and see if it starts throwing that code till later. It wont effect much but gas mileage and ability to put gas in the tank fast. Lastly pull all the wiring harnesses apart and visually inspect for water or evidence of previous water. I had to swim outta my windows when mine flooded and I've got 10000 miles on it since then including a trip from Cali to NY then to FL. Wheel bearings will wear faster now too. its fixable dont write it off as a loss yet:thumbsup:
