What do you run for psi in Winter/Summer?

    I Know different tires require different psi and the new Tacos have the fancy TPMS. BUT my Stock 17in Tires say max 44psi and the door says 29. I drove off the lot and switched to 16in tires and steel rims and kept the 29psi. The max on these are also 44psi.
    Bottom line my MPG SUCKS. 15mpg, 12.8mpg, 13.4mpg. The last 3 fill-ups!
    I also know my 6spd Tow package manual is the worst rating w/15-18.
    Any suggestions to help me squeeze some more mpg. Oh by the way I'm using 89 octane, mainly shell, sometimes mobil and citgo. I'm at 2200 miles and want to change to Mobil 1 soon then go 5k.

    What does everyone run for psi?

    I run 30 psi in both my 17s in summer and winter 16's. You can run a couple more PSI in your winter tires (many manuals recommend), but if you put too much, the center line will wear much quicker. I found this out running my Blizzaks 35 psi for 2 winters...

    As for mpg w/ the 6spd. I get 17-18 all winter, though mostly hilly rural driving. Using 89 gas, full syn oils, but the main thing is keep her between 1500-2000 rpm cruising. On the hwy, once your over 65, mpg plummets. Your truck is also new, so w/ time mpg will improve. Your call if you want to switch the oil now.

    4.56 gears, rear trutrac,DT header, 235/85r16 Duratracs, 2nd filter pulled, inter.wipers, Cruise control, Factory alum. whls/winter tires(2nd set), Afe pro Dry-S , Dumbo eared flaps cut down.
    i run 28 psi winter on my winter tires (29psi on door sticker btw) and run 38-44 (51 psi max on sidewall) on my stock at20s.
    That high of a psi has never shown a discernable amount of wear in the center on my previous trucks or tires in the load range"C" range over 30-40k.
    22-23pmg winter 24-26 summer mpg fwiw.

    Not sure about the 4.0L....but I have the little brother and I noticed an increase in MPG after 5K...and it has slowly been improving since (6200 miles now). There seems to be more that you can do with the V6 than the 4-banger to increase MPG....but with the manual transmission, it's tough to do that up there with nearly no flat driving. (I grew up in VT).
    Winter mileage will suck because: 1. Winter gas is not as efficient. 2. Driving habits are different.....you probably use the transmission more for slowing down than in warm weather/dry roads. 3. You may use 4WD more.

    Check out some of the other threads for increasing MPG for a V6....synthetic oil, different air intake, driving habits/modes, and others.

    2016 GMC Canyon SLT w/ LineX and....
    I've been running about 32psi. Lately, that my tires are getting thin ....I've put it back down to 29psi and that's only to maybe gain a little more traction in the wet/snowy stuff. When I get new tires, I'll be back up at 32 again.

    Thanks for all the advice! I will continue to run 29 i guess and see if it improves with time/ season change. Tough part is I'll be towing a boat a lot in the summer so that won't help. Maybe I'll run a tank at 30 then 31psi to see if there is any difference. Thing is I feel like I have great traction with 29. We'll see.
