I just flew to Bush yesterday to start my new job here in TX. I like the weather, so far, as it is much warmer here than it is back home. Since I had to leave with such short notice my dad will be selling my old truck (2001 5.9 Cummins Ram) and I will be searching for my first Taco.

I'm about 1.5hrs SW from Houston and would like to purchase one soon. Does anybody have any dealerships in the Houston area that they would recommend? Fort Bend is the only one I've talked to so far, and I'll be waiting for Fred Haas to contact me tomorrow.

In the future I'd like to do some wheeling and/or meets in the area.

Welcome from Houston. What makes you pick a taco? Do you plan on wheeling it?

Yes. Now you can get the "I wasn't born in Texas but got here as fast as I could" "come and take it" and all the other cliche bumper stickers and t shirts!

I've always wanted a Taco since I was a kid, and I'd like to go wheeling, but it seems really flat around here haha.

    Welcome
Houston is flat. You have to drive several hours for anything interesting..
As far as stealerships go, make a spam email address at www.gmail.com and email
several dealers telling them what you want and include an 'e-price', also don't put
your real phone number, and tell them you want to talk via email only and go from there. We have probably 12 dealerships within 50 miles of one another.

I found my truck on Ebay of all places in McKinney Tx, 3 years ago. Its a 2008 TRD OR AC with 47k miles. Talked them down from 21k to 18k. I had a pretty good down payment and good credit. The dealership was about 9 hrs away and I did the deal thru emails with pics and on the phone. Had a shipping company do a complete head to tail up on the rack inspection that included pics/servicing the whole lot. The inspection had a guaranty that if anything was misrepresented the deal would be dropped. The dealership agreed to ship my truck to my house for free. It took 3 days of waiting anxiously. It arrived safe and sound. The dealership is a wholesale place. They still send me emails asking if I want to sell it. Offering more than what I paid. They even send me Christmas cards with Toyota dealership coupons for free oil changes and what not. I've never bought a vehicle this way but I looked for almost a year around here and found nothing in my price range. I saved about 6k buying my truck this way and have been more than happy with my results. Good luck with your hunt.
