door handle help

i have a 00 tacoma prerunner and noticed that the drivers side door handle is getting harder and harder to open. I am having to lift it up as far as it will go and sometimes it rejects me and i think my door is locked but it isnt

is there any way to fix this? my passenger door handle works perfectly...

 

It's probably cracked, and getting ready to break. Next time you get the chance pull it up and look under it and see if you can find a crack in it. If so get ready to buy another door handle. I broke 2 in my old truck. They always broke in 5 degree weather though.

 

did you replace them yourself? if so how difficult is it?

 

Not hard, pull the door panel off, and there is I think 3 bolts holding it in. Take the rods off, put the new one in, put rods back on, door panel, and your done.

 

ok but do you have the black plastic handle? cuz mine is the chrome metal one...

 

id get one from ebay they have black ones for like $17 each

 

i dont want two different door handle tho... the only chrome one i found was $40
