Is any experiencing their driver seat back feeling loose?
I'm wondering if this is common in the 3rd gen Tacomas.
In more detail, every time I adjust my body weight back in the driver seat it feels like it has a slight play of movement.

I have the same issue.. like the position where I have my seat has like a play... more or les 1" of play... some times I slow down and the back moves forward.. I'm going to tell the dealer next week on my 15k service.. I doubt something will happen.. here in south Florida the service is like $hit... will see...

    I have this.
Ive only ever had power seats and I think its the position of the seat.
I tried a few on the lot and their fine.
I tried a couple techs trucks and they're loose too.
It seems after some mileage the adjustment assembly (gear i guess) wears down?
I tried the next position forward and back and they don't have play.

I hate it though!! Come to a stop and it lurches forward then back with a slight clunk..

Doesn't the manual mention something about this being normal and a part of the safety system? Or was that just the headrest?

Not sure, can't imagine its a safety feature..
    Its annoying..

The guys at toyota are annoyed with me cause I keep pointing things out that are wrong with their truck that they didn't notice till i pointed it out.. lol

There is something in the manual about the seat moving forward slightly and the headrest snapping forward if you brake hard to prevent whiplash. Stop braking so hard and you wouldn't have the problem :D

Mine is the same and the headrest posts vibrate in their detents when engine or road vibration is strong enough... There's a new one to be OCD about!
I'm used to it though... My previous truck and car did the same thing. Those were GM and Honda products.

    Ya, got the squeak too.
I get it, its a truck and intend to use it as such.
I plan for major mods, heavy off-road use and all around lots of miles.
10,000kms and the seat's been replaced once and now this...
Minor issue but big flaw in the general sense.

Just no. It is a 2016 model and a brand new vehicle. There shouldn't be any weird squeaks or rattles, regardless of vehicle type. You have every right to be unsatisfied with it, no need to lighten the issue.

my seat has had that play in it for about 2 months now. took it to the dealer 6 weeks ago and they said it was broken and another would be on order and would come in within 4-5 days. They called me to book it in so i did. 3 hours after i dropped it off they called to to tell me to pick my truck up. they told me the seat never came in and that id have to re-book. after dropping it off and having to borrow a car to get to work... I took the truck back on dec 12th. I called on the 21st and they said it was shipped out that day from the warehouse...

well i called today and asked if it came in. the parts guy said "yup its in, It showed up on the 3rd of jan "

this is the 4rth or 5th issue and miscommunication with this dealer..

I think i need to find another dealership....

    That's a good idea.

Also this is the same dealer that messed up my finance papers and tried to charge my credit card an extra 800 dollars, also messed up the contract and term length, and has told me in 3 visits that there is nothing wrong with my transmission and that they can't find the tapping noise on the passenger side dash speaker cover.

Oh and even with all the mess ups they still won't lend me a loaner car even when the issue is a defective part and warranty claim

Mine does this. That is, it moves slightly forward when I lean up. Both of the front seats do it exactly the same way. Mine is more like 2-3mm or so.. not an inch by any means. At first I was like wtf but after inspecting it I determined it to be by design. I have never felt it move while driving, the only time I've felt it was when I leaned over to grab something before getting out but then sat back in the seat.

I would just be sure to demonstrate the noise to the service writer before you hand the keys off to them. Otherwise you'll get the "We couldn't replicate the issue" or "Normal for the vehicle" song and dance.

Reviving an old thread... my drivers seat has always had a tiny bit of play between the seat back and base. But over the last few weeks it’s gotten worse to the point I feel a thud (not the headrest - I removed it to confirm this wasn’t it) and I can get about an inch of play just wiggling the seatback. Seat is properly torqued to the body of the truck but I’m not sure where to fix (or if it can be fixed) the play that’s clearly getting worse.

Just over 36k so I’m on my own for this one. Any tips from those who have successfully fixed this welcome!

There was another thread on this. The guy fixed his by putting rubber in between the metal mesh and the foam. Nothing was broken inside there was just play because the chicken wire is flexible.

Mine is doing the same thing so I am planning on that fix when I take it apart to install my Katzkins. I have no play in the seat rail just the back of the seat internally. Check to see if your play is in the track or just inside the upholstery.
