Pretty much spent the last 28 years getting my ass kicked by her playing video games. Starting with NES and going forward.

Never really minded losing since the bets were usually of a nature that even if I lost, I still won. ;)

They springs will be flat whether or not you do a flip. Has no bearing on the load on the leaf springs.

As I am not an engineer nor a metallurgist, I cannot back up my claim that meatal fatigue will be introduced into a leaf spring through flex, and it makes no difference is it is from going into negative arch or not. That being said, you do not need the flip. Bug you will not get 12" of travel without it.

Think of it this way. A spring that has 6" of positive arch that flexes to flat and a spring that moves from 3" of arch to -3" of arch hve the same amount of movement. It is the amount of movement and the NUMBER of times it is cycled that will cause leafs to break due to metal fatigue.

A certain well known and "expert" member of this forum made a claim about the flip causing flat leaves. Anyone with the same loading on Dakar's as mine will have flat or near flat leaves with or without the flip. Lloyd can post a pic of his, and me of mine. You will see they are near identical.

I plan on doing an experiment soon and documenting the process. It will either prove or disprove a theory of mine. I lack the knowledgeable to do it through math, so will use real world testing.

I almost posted on that certain someone's thread, but thought better of it. I will disprove him in a less aggressive way.

And.....I was waiting on a certain engineer to do some calcs to figure out if shackle angle actually alters dynamic spring rate....
