The design of the U.S. ranger has not been confirmed. Ford did not even reveal any hints at the auto show other than the time frame of release.

Yeah, they were popular. I still see those old things driving around. A lot of loyalists that haven't had a car payment in a long time.... they may be ready to try the new one. Except it looks like they had Honda design it.

I am as much of a Taco fan as anyone. But youre crazy if you think the ranger wont out sell it. Or if you think it will look anything like it does in those pics.

I agree, I think it will be a huge competitor to the Tacoma. That's what I meant.

It's fairly easy to get an emissions-compliant diesel with DEF/urea - something VW was trying to avoid. Of course they got their hand caught in the cookie jar.

As others have pointed out, costs do escalate, however, and if I'm looking at $40K for a diesel Tacoma - well, I'm probably just going to find a gently used Cummins or Powerstroke at that point.

Why the heck would you want it to be geared to hold high gear when towing heavy loads? That means its going to get crappy MPG and be winding out when unloaded. Now granted, the auto is a bit overgeared it seems. However, you certainly don't want to be in high gear when towing, maybe 4th and 5th rather than 3rd and 4th. To call it useless because of holding a lower gear is a bit much though.

I would have considered a Ranger if they were available when I was shopping. I didn't and still wouldn't consider Chevy, Ram, or Nissan.

I agree 100%. There are tons of them still driving around here in CO. But in their defense I did hear today that photo floating around is not what the new Ranger will look like. I don't even think Ford created those concepts of the Ranger/ Bronco. I think that was someone trying to guess what Ford might do with it based on the Ranger they sell overseas.

I would trade in my 2017 (which I love) for one in a heartbeat!

The next presidential administration has already alluded to the fact that they will do everything they can to neuter the EPA, so I wouldn't be surprised if some friendlier regulations come down in the next few years.

I have no interest in diesel though. Unless it got fantastic fuel mileage. I don't tow much and don't need the added expense of diesel.

Yeah it's been pointed out to me that the photo is of the current euro model. I'm guessing a rendering of the US one will be released soon.

That Ranger looks like a Taurus pickup.
This is an odd forum. Seems like half the members want a different kind of truck. Very odd.

The bronco pictures are all concepts - the Ranger pictures are real, but of the EU version (Think Hylux vs Tacoma - sameish truck different styling). My previous vehicles have been Fords, and I've loved them. I tried the tacoma and the colorado. The chevy was more comfortable since I'm 6'5", but the interior quality left me wanting. If this new Ranger has the interior room of the other NA brands, but stops looking like a Ridgeline or an Explorer with the back chopped and actually embraces looking like a truck, they'll kill it here.

I used to think it was odd too, but then you see your 3rd, 4th,...,80th post about "I just bought this truck for 45k (LOL ROBBED THAT DEALER BLIND)...but now that I've driven it home...I think it needs more power...this Cummins 2500 just blew right by me at an intersection!" you realize that it's not that odd.

On the other hand, I think we ALL want a different truck, that's why we're here modding it to hell and back right? Doesn't mean someone sells THAT truck.

A concrete, "definitive-announcement" title for nothing more than could-would-should-dreamlist clickbait? Thanks for wasting everyone's time OP. To the ignore list you go.
