Local LHM dealership failed to replace 10cent crush washer during an oil change on our 2011 Corolla resulting in several quarts of oil lost over the course of a week... Unfortunately, I was out of town when my fiancé got the change done and didn't realize how much oil it had lost until I got back. I'm done with Toyota dealerships... Sloppy work and high prices have me looking elsewhere!

I like it. Kind of like travel insurance for a plane trip.

    UPDATE*

Talked to Service today at the start of my shift (10am) They owned up and said they would replace the belt and clean the entire engine bay!

Service closes at 6 so when I went to check on it at 5pm I noticed that they JUST pulled it in. The writer came by about 30 min later and told me that they will do the detail first thing tomorrow but for now they sprayed....

BRAKE CLEANER all over my frame and suspension links and hoses under my hood.

I was pissed.... I walked back there and grabbed the guys can of brake cleaner and looks at the warnings... clear as day it says (DO NOT USE ON PAINTED PRODUCTS OR PLASTICS/RUBBER) He said "dont worry we use it on allllllll of our clean up jobs its safe and evaporates quickly" He also went on to saying "we just sprayed your front frame a little" I was like "ok cool thats fine I guess".

when they gave me the keys I looked underneath and he lied... he sprayed everything underneath... a lot more then just my frame.

Called the writer manager over to take a look at it. She told me that her she was a mechanic and learned from our local community college and they taught her to use it on everything. <_< I just politely said that should be changed. Ended up giving the keys to our lot porter so he could wash it underneath a little.

I have yet to talk to the service manager about it. I do work here and I do believe they are a good service department but there are some bad seeds just like every workplace.

    What does everyone think?

Also the tech who messed up in the first place also messed up today.... He decided to do an oil change and put the old filter back on....

Lets just say the fella who owned the truck checked it before he left and made the guy change it right in front of him while giving him and service an earful

This guy is still employed? He is the EXACT reason good techs get a bad name.

Just go in and tell them what happened. I don't think that it is unusual to think that you would not look under the hood after an oil change. Just go in with a good attitude and don't be a dick. They'll fix it.

What I think is, judging from your last two posts that I would stay far away from them with my truck.

I worked at a prominent Ford dealership about 15 years ago parking cars for the service department (lot porter). We had some of the best and most competent and trusted mechanics, they also made a lot of money, and they also didn't change oil. We had several lube techs and most of them were very good and aspiring into a life career as a mechanic with school funded by the dealership. They also hired idiots from time to time, one of them dropped 2 cars of a rack, pulled a car out after oil change without putting oil back in, and sent another car out either without the drain plug or the filter (I don't recall which), they finally fired him but obviously took several mistakes. Also seemed like once a month somebody would fill a brand new diesel truck w/ regular unleaded, those were always fun. The service department was very good at righting wrongs when they happened.

It was a fun gig for 19 year old me. Service was open until midnight back then and from 9pm-Midnight it was usually a ghost town, as long as I got a mechanic to rack my car they would allow me to do my own work.

Get them to wash the pulleys and replace the belt.

The oil is actually good for the engine. I like to spray oil on my engine (just not the belt) whenever I remember to. Keeps the corrosion down to a minimum.

Some of you are a little paranoid...I've had the Fumoto valve over 100,000 miles, 15 oil changes, no issues (I don't off-road though). The 'spring-loaded lever' has a clip that locks it in place.

I know right? If people stood up for stuff then I bet there would be less mistakes being made...
