This compares the OEM vs. the PelfreyBilt tank skid. Note the bolt protectors.

I also like how the front of the skid bolts directly onto the factory frame crossmember. Other skids "float" on just the two OEM tank straps.

Yes. I also like that it bolts to the X member. One other note. If you don't have a TRD OR you need to buy the tank straps with the studs for the skid. That or weld studs to the straps. I know David has an OR, but it's something people don't think about when ordering.

Pelfrey charges like $167 for the straps.. or thats what it was the last time I looked. Sound right?

Also, do you think the Aluminum is worth it? or steel because its cheaper and is stronger than the aluminum?

I'm not sure on the strap price. But I don't think you need to buy them because you have an OR with a plastic gas tank skid?
Go steel. I went aluminum, but if I had a choice now, I'd go steel.

I know I dont need them, but I checked out Pelfrey's site. They dont sell them anymore, but they list the Toyota part numbers.

I wouldn't buy any skid plate in aluminum. Period. I don't remember what I psid. I bought them from the dealer so I'm sure it want cheap. You don't have an OR? I assumed you did since you were asking about the cable conversion for the E-locker.
