Every new "special edition" model with high demand, this happens. I was looking at getting a Mustang gt350, but the local dealerships were padding MSRP by like $20k. Same thing with the Hellcat Challenger - $20-$30k markups over MSRP. If people will pay that, I don't begrudge the dealership for trying to make a profit. I'm not one of those people, though, especially with a vehicle like a Tacoma that won't be made in limited numbers and will be easy enough to get ahold of soon.

Aren't they only making 1500 Pros?

I read they were making 3000 of this Pro, but also heard they would make as many as people would buy. I emailed toyota to ask and they just gave me a canned answer about "supply is determined by many factors blah blah blah....."

Thanks. It would be interesting to find out. If they are in such demand, not sure why they would limit it?

Toyota wants you to think they are not making "unlimited" quantities, of course, to drive up demand. They will keep making them but releasing them painfully slowly to keep demand high (just my prediction.)

I wish I knew. It could be any number of things. Maybe they make very little money on each Pro so it doesn't make much sense to make a bunch of them if the profit is higher on the cheaper trims... Maybe they genuinely like putting a limited number of a special edition out there to get people excited.. I know I did a search on cars.com a few weeks ago for the 2015 Pro just to see how many were for sale right now and even though 100+ results came up, only 2 of them were actually Pros. And they were both being sold for close to $40k with 40k+ miles on them. But they only made 1500 of that year's Pro.

I think that makes the most sense. They get the best of both worlds that way.

You folks that dont want a pro for the sunroof, I 100% agree, this 3rd gen
got an elongated nose job and less headroom.I popped the hood and see the
RAD and the grill have a good 4 + inches of space FOR NO REASON, anyway
My sport has the roof and I always drive with the shade pulled back and open,
just feel better and less chlosterphobic.

BUT you can always add a roof, an even bigger one at that. Ive added
2 sunroofs in cars in the past and i paid around 8-1200 for it. Never
had a problem with either, I dont keep cars/trucks very long but I think
my Taco is a keeper since it wont change again for umm 9 more years HA

pix coming tomorrow , ill be a PRO Poser if you want to call it that, all OEM parts but
FN wheels for the 17x8 factor, and ONLY because they wont make a PRO in Mag Grey,
big set back IMO. Plus I wanted all the TECH too.. All of it =)

I have a 2016 Access Cab and I would love a sunroof, where would you suggest I go for an aftermarket sunroof?

I'm not sure where you live but what I would do is go to the dealer ask the finance manger and "pose" as you want them to do it for you and ask what shop and are the reputable etc - then just go straight to that shop. Every dealer has that contact it's a fairly common thing for them to outsource a sunroof .

Ps - there are different levels of quality you'll get to choose from if you go yourself . I suggest you to pay the extra coin for the good motor good glass and fabric . You might even want to buy the OEM control buttons on your own to have a perfect OEM look.

I just got my Cement 17' TRD Pro 6speed Manual from Longo. I guess someone backed out and I just got lucky and swooped right in. I've been trying to find one for months and every dealer has been absolutely retarded when it came to this truck for some reason. It seems to be easier to buy a bugatti veyron then one of these things. Either way I'm just glad its over and I can enjoy now.

Lmao, that's almost certainly mine. I ordered it roughly late November and it arrived too early for me to snatch up.

Interesting to see, does it have holes in the front for the bumper? I asked if they could hold off on that.

Glad to see that it went to a fellow TW member though.

Enjoy the ride! I'm envious of you.

I hate you so much :bananadead:

There are like 8 people waiting at Toyota Carlsbad for a Pro. Someone might get cold feet or their dog might also get ass rabies. Keep an eye on them. ;)

Does it have about 300 - 400 miles? My ass was in it first :p test drove it and then almost spit when they wanted $570/month with 5% interest for a lease. Yea, I would love a Pro, but for that price I would rather drive an S4 and cheaper.

Glad you got yours though. And don't worry I was easy on the test drive.

Thats funny It might be! The day I found this truck (Saturday) there were two on the lot identical. I test drove this one and said f*ck it. I had already gave up on the TRD PRO with all the BS I was getting from dealers around me. And was actually looking for a 6-speed manual TRD OR so I guess I was just at right place at the right time. It was worth the 1 hour drive from my house I'd say :) Unfortunately I had to leave for new york the same night so I literally drove it home and got on a plane and the truck has been sitting at home all week with 30 miles on it can't wait to take it out. Its a big departure from my Benz CLS 550 that I usually drive. Oh and yea unfortunately they did drill the bumper :(
