I don't get the obsession with diesel in a midsize.
If you're complaining about towing in your Tacoma you probably need a full size.

What's with everyone's boner for diesels. I got a 2015 Ram 2500 Cummins for work and towing and they are nice but the 200 dollar oil and filters changes and Def fill ups add up fast. Which isn't worth it if you don't use it too all it's potencial.

I don't want one for towing, the low end torque is the appeal.. I feel like in the states everyone is used to seeing gramps in a 3500 dually or 16 year old Jason Aldean jamming fags in their cummins. Thinking diesel is only for towing.. look at all the fucking badassery that is the diesel land cruisers and hilux's that are in AU and Africa. Go watch how to kill a hilux on top gear. Shit is absolutely nuts. All while getting excellent mileage, and lasting absolutely forever. These things aren't bro trucks, these are probably the most capable vehicles on the planet.

But those diesels don't have near as many regulations as the US diesels.

This is the logic behind Ford dropping the Ranger from the US market. Yet, they are bringing it back.

I just picked up a '17 Tacoma for the price of a full size. I didn't/don't want a full size truck. I'll pay full size pricing for a midsize if the truck is what I want and fits my needs.

I'm not arguing that, but I hate when people think all diesels are good for is towing.

Well thing is cost of ownership for these newer diesels because of said regulations are making them so If you don't tow it would be cheaper and sometimes better to get a gas truck

No doubt about that either, I'm not denying the costs of ownership or purchasing. I'm simply arguing that the application of a small displacement diesel in a small-midsize truck is perfect. Maybe we should start talking about how to change the EPA regs, they're murdering this vehicle segment either way. Anemic gassers, and choked diesels.. somethings gotta give.

If they offer a Manual Transmission in a 4x4 Off Road type Version, I will definitely consider one.

Meh, They took out excess weight and increased the strength of a ton of parts. They are bringing a 2.2L diesel to North America for 2017.5 starting with the CX-5. While I'm still not a fan of the modern diesel it's a shame we don't get the BT-50 here.

    Bingo, we have a winner.

I've said this before and I will say it again, diesel gm twins only have a 700 pound increase in towing capacity over v6 gas option.

We will get to see how a diesel does in the 2018 wranglers.

I've driven diesel troopies and hiluxes in Australia. Way more economical to drive there than the gass guzzlers. Just sold an 84 Mercedes 300d inline five turbo that got 25+Mpg's and would pull like a freight train to over 120 mph with 206k miles on the clock. Also had an 87 Isuzu pup with the 2.2 NA diesel and constantly got over 30 Mpg's with 300k and still runs.
The $15 billion that vw had to pay to destroy all those perfectly good TDI's makes my heart cringe.
When gas goes back up, and it will, we'll all want the Mpg's and torque that only a diesel provides. Get rid of all the emissions crap that us in the middle of the country have no need.

Is this legit? Am I the only one that thinks this looks like a chevy colorado with a different grill? Swap out the mazda symbol for the bowtie and it's pretty much identical.

That's the euro version. The NA version will not be the same the article said

Gotcha, didn't look at the link. After the links I've looked at on these forums today I think I've had enough.

It's a Mazda product sold in Australia and other parts of the world. Looks nothing like the Colorado to me. Doesn't matter anyway because we aren't getting it any time soon.
