Just get a method and lay it out. Wasn't too bad. If i get some Manuf.'d drop in...my life would be better.
Once panel is installed and tested...I will submerege it all in black GOO. Non-conductive, just to protect the circuits.

Any chance if you don't use your clear covers that I could do a swap with you. You make me the Blacked out Tail Lights and then I'll send you my factory Tail Lights to continue with the process for another set, plus whatever cash you'd like for the process of making them for me. I'd do the same with my Head Lights too if you do those. I've also contact JerryTaco's contact for the Head Light housing to get done. I just really love the look of having them both blacked out but not painted or tinted on the lense so the lighting is less visible.

 

I'd love to figure out how to do the dual LEDs so that when you have the blinker on, it flashes Orange but the breaklight flashes red. However, keep the same system and have the back up lights where they originally are set now.

 

^ Dual color(amber/red) would be pretty sweet if using both inner/outer clear lens.
That would definitely take some design work.
I am having a few prototypes printed on a drop in PCB
...Adding another row of amber would be easy.

The clear lense BTLM would look sweet, especially on my murdered out taco. I agree with KTJO 4x4 on not tinting them.

Decided I need some SIDE VISIBLE running lights.

If you look close at the OEM lights, there are 2 small square windows in the side reflector that let the light shine through....giving side visibility.
The LED's do a good job of projecting light backward..but not sideways.

I was originally going to mount 2 small LED's in square factory locations...but after seeing the new Ford pickups..I loved the glowing side LED running lights.

SOOOOO I mocked up my own. THey are also switchbacks(like my Tritons won't be bright enough) And give me some good side viability.

I think that was an interesting idea for sure. Can you post pics of what it looked like without the red cover on it. I agree that DLR would be a cool addition. I was actually thinking of getting the ford raptor front and rear LED lights that go either in the fender or front and back bumpers. What are your thoughts? I attached a front pic and back pic of what I'm talking about. Front are amber and back are red.

 

Did someone mention RAPTOR STYLE???

Just got back from CES show in Vegas..... back to taillight project.
LED glow bars were a tight squeeze around the edge, but I managed to do it

I contemplated about how to put them back together...
I wanted it to be structurally sound, while maintaining a good seal.

Ended up plastic fusing the edges back together (that's how the factory did it, so must work?)




Then, I ran a bead of black RTV around the plastic welds. (lets hope this seals!)

Just waiting for the RTV to fully cure, and my Switchback Trittons to arrive, then I'll slap these bad boys in!

For being my first taillight retro, they didn't turn out too bad. The first one is always the most difficult.
While I'm waiting on the last part(switchbacks) I decided to test them out for function/fitment.

I am going to run a new wire to the back, so the LED glow tubes will be ON with DRL switch
(I drive with DRL switch on 99% of the time)which also activates the front turn signal Amber switch backs.
