I have a 2017 Sport 4x4 w/ a 6" BDS lift w/ coilovers. When they installed it they only did a partial CMC and then fit 295/60r20/10 (w/ an -12 offset) instead of the 35's I ordered. I'm sending it back in to a different shop for a bunch more mods and one of the things I want is a wider stance (about 2" beyond fenders) and 35's. [I know this is not a super popular look on this forum, but it's what I want and I need help from knowledgeable people] The shop said if I go w/ a wider wheel and/or bigger offset it still might rub even if they complete the CMC. He said spacers, I said no. Then he suggested a long travel kit (not the entire kit just new control arms, axles, etc). He uses Total Chaos +2". He said its $$$, but it's a really good way to get a wider stance. And then he said I could get about 1-1.5" more out of my adjustable shocks and add a leaf in the back (I want more height too). I originally thought a small BL, but he said no lol. Thoughts about this long travel kit route and/or have any suggestions to get more lift? Other suggestions were to just SAS it or go w/ the spacers.

He also said that I could use my Fox coilovers that came with the BDS lift (which would save me $). A couple guys on TTE said that they wouldn't work. IDK

So I'm assuming your goal is to fit 35s? A LT can help for 35s. Look at the AllPro kit. It doesn't require new fenders. Pushes the stance out 2" either side and can reasonably fit 35s though I heard you still need some trimming. I talked to AllPro and they said it fits 35s fine but talking with members here, if you actually use it you will either need trimming or downsize to a 34.

I priced out the AllPro a bit and it came to like $6k-7k without labor.

He also said that the long travel would lower/lessen my CV angles (which is good, right?) allowing me to get more height out of my adjustable shocks (more safely). He also said that I would have better steering w/ the long travel (more articulation). The only people on TTE that had any imput thought it wasn't a good idea, but I thought these two things were good benefits. But my understanding of everything is limited.

I have never heard of someone doing a drop bracket and LT kit. I think you should move towards sas then doing that. Do you wheel with this truck?

Yes, goal to fit 35's. Question is will it work or is it a good combo w/ a 6" drop bracket lift (the 6" BDS I already have) and can I use my existing Fox coilovers. Yeah, he quoted me at $3500 for the Total Chaos +2" LT kit and $600 labor. The 2 guys on TTE were saying it will be more, but I'm not using the entire kit IDK. That's why one suggested just doing a SAS.

That's what they said. But don't those 2 benefits (less CV angle and more articulation) sound right? No, I don't really OR.

Are you wanting more lift from the LT kit or just a wider stance? The LT kit has those benefits. the drop bracket not so much

Most of that LT kit will replace everything up front so you won't be using the BDS anymore. You might be able to use the Fox coilovers but don't quote me. You'll benefit from new extended travel shocks but I'm not entirely sure about the old ones.

SAS and LT are the best OR performing suspensions/upgrades. They will be expensive but if you have the dough, more power to you.

Well I already have the 6" BDS lift. So I'm primarily using the LT kit to get a wider stance. I am looking for a tad bit more height in addition to my 6" lift, but not through the LT. I originally thought a small body lift, but the guy at the shop said he didn't care for them. We came up w/ extending my existing shocks and adding a leaf or bending my existing ones.

I can't say I have ever seen anything over 6". Most LT kits only lift 2-3". I'm not saying they don't exist but most people here aren't running much over 3" and maybe a few 6" floating around.

That's what I was seeing on the Total Chaos site (4" I think). But I would keep a bunch from my BDS lift and just use the LT kit's control arms, tie rod extensions...

Would it be crazy to do a SAS? Can it even be done on a 2017? This might be a stupid question, but I can skip regearing if I do a SAS right? How much $ would I be looking at if I did a SAS properly. What kind of lift can I get w/ a SAS? Is it a waste if I don't really off-road?

Should I just use stupid wheel spacers? I wanna do this the best way...

I would just do spacers or different offset rim. I wouldn't sas that.

SAS it. You can get any height lift at that point, $ will be the limit. You can also decide on whatever width you want and have axles built to that spec.
You still need to regear to regain power from the 35s.

Any good 4wd shop can handle the work.

Here's a more direct question: WHY would you not go with adding the long travel kit to the 6" BDS lift?

    Not sure, maybe coilover compatibility

Call Total Chaos, All-Pro and Camburg tomorrow and ask their opinion. That is the first step. They are the experts on if their parts will work safely and reliably within your parameters.
