I'm looking for ideas on storage for a double cab. I have already seen most threads on it but none really looked good to me. I don't gave money for a camper shell or a top. I don't want to remove the rear seats either. I need storage!!

How much storage? Would a toolbox be big enough or do you need lots of storage for large items?

I sold my 02 DC over 6 years ago but I do remember just throwing everything in the back seat because there wasn't much storage

I'm sure there's something you could do on the cheap. Such as making your own storage out of plywood. Like a platform of sorts maybe. Not familiar with the dc's enough to give you ideas. Just finished a rear plywood "rack" that holds my hilift, and am currently working on plans for building up a sub enclosure, with storage drawers on top, in my extended cab. But I did remove all the rear seat components and trim. Again I'm sure there's something you could make though that would work even with your seats. I just googled the shit out of vehicle storage ideas. Most notably '4x4 storage', as well as custom sub enclosures, to get ideas. I vaguely remember seeing a couple double cab versions that didn't involve removing seats. I don't even know what the rear seats look like in a dc. Lol. But maybe under seat storage? Do they fold down or up? Build a box underneath them? Any space behind the seats? If I can do it in my ext cab, with hardly any experience, I'm sure you could figure something out with yours. Just gonna be a little trickier building around the seats is all.

I have a 04 double cab and my back seat is my storage. My suggestion is to sell your truck and find something better that fits your needs. Inside a double cab is TIGHT as far as space goes.

storage INSIDE a double cab? ha!

Yeah, you're only bet is behind the rear seats unless you just throw stuff on the floor in the back. I can fit my "get jeeps unstuck kit" behind the rear seat just fine (tow strap, jumper cables, tire plugs, tire changing kit, etc...). It's in a canvas bag.

If you remove the plastic piece that's screwed to the back of the seats (back seats), you might get another inch or so of clearance.

    Yes
Under the seats is a metal platform that extends out to hold the small tool and jack box in place, it is welded but can be removed without. Compromising vehicle integrity.

I still use mine for that, but I imagine there is some space other than the mounts under there. I probably wouldn't cut into it for storage or anything, I've just always been curious about it since the newer ones have small compartments under there.
