Not sure how fast I'll get this swapped over but this is my new rc project.

If anyone is interested, I'm willing to sell the 1st Gen Hilux front cab minus the bed decals. Just PM me.

Sweet man! thanks for the pictures :) I for sure have a nice soldering station, I used to do board repairs and mods so it was kind of a necessity, not to mention it just fit in with RC so well. I'll have to look into it, I think it would be sick to build a custom rock racer type chassis made for high flexibility and some nice speed.

Good luck with the venture on your build for work man, looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I got an NQD Tear Into jet boat early last year. Cut it open and replaced the electronics with some oversized ground based gear left over from my crawler rebuilds and it's fun. The stock electronics are a joke and the boat is toy grade. But after reworking it and resealing it so far so good. It'll take a beating and can run in very shallow water as long as there isn't leaves and things to get sucked up.
    IMG_3279.jpg

I made this from a scaled down .pdf of a Predator. Had UPS print it out on card stock then cut those out of balsa. Not balanced and heavy. My only attempt so far. It's sitting on a 2.2 wheel.

Neither are blazing fast for what they are. The jet boat could use a brushless to see some real speed and the outrigger barely gets on plane. I plan on making a new outrigger one day slightly bigger and brushless.

Online. Check Amazon for price. When you find the right price, check the web site for who ever is selling the kit. It will probably be better there.

I used to be into Boat's but that part of the hobby got expensive fast and the club I used to go to started getting stricter and of the main two guys one was kind of a douche. Also without that club there isn't really anywhere to run around my area that would merit a good recovery ability so I put boat's down for now.

When I was into them I started out with a Stinger SS (I actually still have it) and then graduated into a Traxxas Villian IV (which was actually way slower) and then my last boat ended up being a rebuild of a used F41 Stryker Cat. If I ever got back into boat's there is a wooden kit Hydroplane that I have seen in action and is a sweet boat and super fast, like it would keep up with an outrigger fast (it was one of the club members builds).

I used to run strictly Gensace lipos but when their prices started going up to match other name brands (and sometime even higher) I stopped using them. They were good batteries when they were cheap but I don't think at the prices they tote now a days are worth the money vs life. All my gensace batteries died quicker than I'd say is the normal shelf life, though I do still have one or two that are kicking. I now run Zippy Compact lipos almost strictly with the occasional Turnigy lipos, both brands have had much better shelf life and are generally reasonably priced. Hobbyking tends to have the better or best prices all around and their battery finder tool is great for slimming down the selection to what you need.

If your looking for an all around good charger that is multi-chemistry and fairly dependable yet carries a decent price tag I'd look into the iCharger line.

If your looking for something that is as good or better quality but at a bit steeper price tag, I'd check out FMA Powerlab chargers. I use a PL6 and in a custom portable charger station and it has been great all these years. I have two posts further back of it.

If you wanna go big then I'd recommend looking at ProgressiveRC for a custom setup or build your own.

I'll add a +1 to the FMA Powerlab mention. Haven't been able to use mines much- but it's one wild charger. I have the Powerlab Duo and Bump controller. Overkill for me, but I was tired of having my chargers getting outdated as newer, and more powerful batteries were coming to the market. Many of the bigger cars now use dual lipos, so having something that can charge more than one at a time is real handy.

Sorry for the bad photo, this is from when I was getting things setup.

    Nice setup!!

Since I purchased my PL6 I never looked back. I have not needed to look at chargers since and probably won't for a long time. The charger you have is apparently new as it was not an option when I picked up my PL6, heck the PL8 I believe was their newer offering at the time of my purchased. The nice thing about FMA is they have update-able firmware, they have PC connectivity for logging and monitoring charge states and they all have add-on capabilities. I can't remember what they call it but basically I could buy another PL6 and stack my two chargers to essentially make what you have. IF I recall correctly you can stack up to three chargers, though don't quote me on that. Another nice thing about them is they do Regenerative discharge on batteries...So any balancing done through the charger is not wasted energy but is put back into the battery source. This is nice especially if you are out playing and run your battery down charging packs (which I have surely done a few times) and with no one around and a half charged pack I can regen. discharge the pack back into my truck battery and start her up.

Thanks, it's a freaking beast. I haven't been up to date on things lately, but when I did pick it up about year maybe two ago- it was their most powerful offering. Overkill by a very large margin. But I picked it up because I purchased an Axial Yeti XL (still not finished), and needed something that could charge up for four 3S Lipos at a time.

Your PL6 ain't no joke either! I believe that along with the PL8 remains to be the most used, aside from the Icharger guys. Their support is great, and constant firmware update is nuts. With the bump controller, I can update things via bluetooth if needed.

If you don't know about the bump controller, check it out. Pretty neat system. It uses a unit that can read RFID. So lets say I have 30 batteries (for whatever reason), and some need to be charged at different rates- I can program it to a RFID tag. Then stick it on the battery. After that, all I need to do is touch the battery to the unit- and the settings are saved. After that, I just plug the battery in and I'm good.

Heck yeah man, that PL6 will charge and balance my 4s 5000mah lipo in just at or under 15 mins. My power supply will provide the charger with what it needs to hit it's max charge state, which is nice, though seldom do I charge my batteries at that high of a rate. I've wanted a Yeti XL for some time now, along with a Traxxas xMaxx. Do you do FPV? I've seen where people have put a camera in the driver helmet, pretty neat.

I have not seen the bump technology but it sounds pretty cool! I will have to look into it. As of right now I don't particularly have the need to charge multiple batteries at once but if the time ever comes that it's needed I'll most likely invest in it. Thanks for the info :)

I was when I was a kid. A few times the boats would die or something would go wrong and I'd have to swim out to get it. That got annoying real fast when it was a big lake.
