Last night my Check Engine/Warning Light and Low Oil Pressure warning lights kicked on and my Ultragauge showed code P0022. I also checked the oil today and the level is only halfway up the dipstick. Oil was changed about 2,700 miles ago. This isn't normal, I usually go 8-9,000 miles between oil changes(using Mobil 1 EP and based on Blackstone Labs Oil analysis).

I don't have a way to check the oil pressure, should I replace the PCV valve and OCV filter and see what happens before having it towed?

If you had low oil pressure that could cause the code because oil is used in the timing / vvt system meaning you most likely did have low oil pressure. If you can't check it I suggest getting it someplace that can. Don't risk messing up your motor. Tow it is my suggestion. Good luck.

I wish you the best, but with the given details it doesn't sound good. Be prepared.

How long did it run with the oil Pressure Light on?

Good call getting it towed. When you say the oil was only half way up the dip stick do you mean that it was half way between the level indicators on the dipstick?

Not good. Might luck out if everything was receiving sufficient oil right up to that point. My official guess is oil pump.

Would've stopped immediately, both lights were intermittent until the last couple blocks.

    That ain't good.

What were you thinking going 3 - 4 miles with the Oil Pressure Light on?

Was it making unusual noises in the engine compartment when you stopped?

Oil light was intermittent and then solid?

Means you had very low oil pressure. Potentially catastrophic low pressure.

This is why I now have an oil pressure gauge.

    No noises, that I heard.

I guess it was disbelief and the lights being intermittent. Long day organizing the garage and a monster headache, just wanted to get back to the house and figure out what was going on.

I'd be hard pressed to say the lights remained on for any longer then the last block in my neighborhood.

Mechanic just called, said it's a bad VVTi solenoid. $267 to replace. Hopefully nothing else will pop up and this debacle will be over.

Both OCV's were replaced, PCV replaced, MAF and Throttle Body cleaned. $517 in the end, no codes, back to running great!

What are your oil change intervals? That is broken down oil which has thickened to a solid.

That's why I use the oil Toyota recommends and change it every 5K.
