Zero deductible, but still a claim on your insurance. So not exactly "free". I have replaced a few windshields in my 11 years here- each is a "claim".

Insurance receives a bill for the windshield, they have to pay. So a claim is opened to pay the bill.

Correct. My insurance just DROPPED 600.00/year since we had no claims. Worth it for me to pay cash.

Edit- I had a minor speeding ticket and 2 windshields in the same year; all have now fallen off. This is why my insurance dropped, huge.

 

Does not surprise me.

 

Its one of the reasons I got rid of my sporty foreign 4 door sedan.

No tickets in the Tacoma.

I will look into the windshield situation more. I do not want the premium to change.

 

Ive had 3 windshields replaced and no increase or questions asked. I don't even hesitate. if I get a crack on a roadtrip, ill call it in immediately and have a technician wherever im heading to do it the next day if ones available. super easy. it should just be an easy call to find out if your premiums will go up due to the claim

 

Another edit, (confirmed with wife): 2 windshields, and the minor speeding ticket in the same calendar year- and Travelers dropped us. They considered EACH windshield an "incident". We now have huge decrease in premium do to no "incidents" in last 36 months.

Ouch, guy at work had to swerve to avoid some other cars acting stoopid in the snow / ice. Telephone pole. Luckily no cab damage, and didnt touch the wheel

Agreed. But Travelers is far from shitty.

 

I agree with that too, happens all the time though. It sucks, but it happened. But again it was 3 incidents in one year. We had to shop several insurance companies- including Allstate, etc.
