I bought these a few months back and just realized from the back they are uneven. The drivers side looks like it is centered with the tire but the passenger side is off about 2" to the left. Is everyone else's like this? Did toyota do this to protect more of the muffler? It's leaving the side of the truck unprotected. 20170108_142515.jpg 20170108_142504.jpg

seriously though, I agree with the bed misalignment....surprisingly common issue I've seen reported here.

This is most likely the reason. The bed on my Taco was off and I took it to the dealership and they fixed it under warranty.

Just look at where the bed meets the cab and if it not flush, it needs to be realigned.

Also, when I dropped of my truck at the dealership to get this fixed, I looked at other new Tacomas on the lot and a few of them did not have the bed aligned correctly.

Wow that's crazy, never would have thought it was the bed. Thanks guys. I'll take it to the dealer and have them realign the bed.

I'd double check the cab alignment to the frame first... I seem to remember someone having a misalignment with an aftermarket front bumper that was due to the cab being off 1/4"...

Hopefully its not the cab that's out of alignment. Most likely it the bed because of his pictures of the mud flaps being off.

The bed is certainly offset, my point was don't just blindly assume the cab is aligned properly. :)

Other possible reasons: you're perspective on each side is not equal - you'd have to make some precise measurements and triangulate your positions, and are you parked on completely level ground? flex in the suspension could make it seem off.

I've heard of the cab misalignment but I thought I'd throw out some other possibilities too. Good luck OP.

Seems way too common that these beds are misaligned, they really should have a Jig in the Factory to ensure it is perfect rather than people eyeballing and slapping them together.

I was going to say the mud flaps are perfect, it's you tire.

I'm not doubting your bed being out of alignment, but I don't think your mudflap problem is as bad as you made it look. Your pics are not taken at the same angle, which makes the one side look much farther off than it really is. I've overlayed the two pics and made one slightly transparent. Notice the two lines I drew in red and yellow, indicating the angle of the body lines underneath. The angle of the yellow line makes that mudflap appear to be offcenter more.

Rear axles and cabs also shift. It's going to take forever to get it all aligned perfectly straight.
