Nope.....Not what I said at all..Not falling for that......All the "national standards" set forth by the NCCA require is a certain grade point average and class attendance. Many schools will allow student athletes to get by with basket weaving "classes", bird watching "classes", etc.....Useless "mail it in" sort of credits that a hamster could pass. Many actually require student athletes to get an education....Big difference. I know of 3 different athletes that graduated with my son, and went on to play various division I athletics and got degrees from their respective schools. 2 couldn't even fill out a job application after graduating. They "passed" minimum NCAA requirements without ever learning how to read or write beyond a 4th grade level. This was in recent years, not decades ago. Schools can (and do) find a way to circumvent "intent of the law" and create their own loopholes.

And yes, I DO expect someone who's getting a free ride through college to actually get an education.

Long story short about Purdue....probably 50% of the "student athletes" in NCAA competition these days couldn't even pass the entrance exams, much less make minimum GPA. No way I'd expect "average" students to live up to Purdue standards. BOILER UP!

    Head unit. That's it.

What I gathered from your post, is that the high school education system is failing.

I mean, filling out a job app is something I learned in 4th grade.

I understand that these kids shouldn't be able to get in to college, and when they do they take "easy" classes. However, those classes are offered, and quite honestly, what your degree is in matters so little anymore for 90% of the jobs available. They just want you to have a degree.

Also, I'm taking "Music Appreciation" this semester. WTF does that have to do with Leadership Development?

So....High school education failed, so let the college level just rubber stamp their degree and send 'em on through? Not in my world. A person should only be recognized for what they honestly earn, not what fake title or degree they are handed.

I have degrees from two of the most prestigious engineering schools in the nation. My daily job doesn't use that to the fullest by any stretch. But I earned the shingle I hang on the wall. Wouldn't want it any other way.
