Outside the frame is the best option technically speaking but on our 1st gens you will be running a pretty good wheel spacer to keep the tire from rubbing on the shock. If your not planning on desert racing then I would say go with the BAMF kit.... any of the options will require welding, measuring, and measuring some more....there are a few guys with either kit...I still have to install mine but most guys knock it out in a day

I'm running a 1.25 spacer right now on stock wheels. I don't want to have to go much wider honestly. How much easier is the bamf kit to put in vs. the outside frame. I'm looking for something with good highway stability too as I'll be traveling home about 4 hours from college every now and then.

Gal darn you all got me hooked on a shock relocation. I'm gonna be a bad kid and go against my mom :bananadance: I have a buddy that's a hell of a welder and fabricator and I think he can knock it out in a day. It's just now time to get shit order and get this stuff done!

outside frame is better. you want shock as close to tire as possible and as straight up as possible. 1.25 is enough for most and your wheels arent that large.

@Croth51 you still making those relocation mounts?

Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
Look into Cerrullo if you got the extra cash. I found a pair of Limited seats but if I hadn't I would of went with them. Their SC seat looks awesome in a Tacoma!

I want a relatively cheaper relocation for the rear. If croth doesn't make them anymore what's a good place to go to find some nice hoops?

Good luck going outside the frame with the stock axle, even with spacers.

I saw a guy order some ford shock towers off of Amazon and use them. But it was for a second gen, so probably not too useful.

you say that like its impossible and that it hasnt been done before. Ive wasted enough time going through the mid travel and shock relocation threads to know its been done more than a few times.

It's not impossible. I never said that. It's just impractical for most applications.

On any tire larger than stock, with a 2.0" or bigger shock, you'll not be able to fully cycle the suspension without rubbing the shock body. I've got about an inch between my tire and frame at full flex. Note: if all you doing is vertical travel, i.e. desert running and not crawling, it may be more applicable.

Used my fumoto oil valve for an oil change for the first time today! It made it so much less messy. I put the oil pan under the truck, sat down, flipped the valve open and walked away for 20 min while it drained. No spilled or dripping oil anywhere!

Tranny fluid drain and fill yesterday and I got a new brake booster installed.

Right now it's just a daily driver something to have fun around town and something to have fun off-road with. I think it'll be a good learning experience, it has been already. I've been researching for like 8 months. if I could I would just drive all day so this is a big dream for me. I appreciate all the help that's been given to me and I'm excited to see it completed.

Is anyone aware of a place to order a replacement back window/frame assembly for a camper shell? I have a 'Covermaster' branded topper and nobody local seems to know how to get parts for it.

If you find out lemme know too, mines busted. Although I have a feeling any solution will cost more than my camper is worth to me.

Yeah that's my problem too...but new shells are ridiculously expensive.
