Agreed. I guess Toyota will have to answer back if the sales are showing the customers want it that bad.

Yeah, that is what I am thinking. Might be blasphamy, but I like the looks of the Collie better than the 3rd Gen Taco. The Chevy looks more like a HiLux than the Toyota Tacoma does...go figure.

It was good in theory...too bad the whole truck was kinda a mess. Hopefully the new gens are way better.

Don't know if you guys remember...there was a test Collie on a H3 chassis...too bad they didn't go with that. It looked burly.

have to scroll down to read the article:

That nose of the colorado steered me away also. It looks more like an SUV than a truck.

I actually like the Colorado front clip...like things more subdued, than machismo. But the is just me.

I kept waiting for the Ranger to come out. Timeline kept getting pushed back. Then I researched the Ranger w/diesel in other countries and it was an Auto only. In fact, I'm not sure I saw many trims where a manual was even an option. I figured it would be a long shot that a manual would show up stateside, so I pulled the trigger on the Tacoma. Of the US auto makers, none of them offer manuals on most trims. I think there is one manual option on a 3/4 ton dodge and that's it.

Going to preorder the ZR2 with a duramax. But i need to buy a cheap 500 dollar car or a older toyota truck to get me by until I take delivery.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to call us F$#@ dumb is a little over the top. I grew up with diesel Hilux, Land Cruisers, Land Rovers etc. and if it was available I would drive a diesel Tacoma. There is a reason why the majority of trucks in Africa, Asia, Australia are diesels - certainly not because the people are F$#@ dumb.
It's not just about towing, or MPGs. It is the whole packet....
Maybe we know something from experience that you don't know. So be it.

    I don't think the 3/4 tons offer a manual anymore, I have 2 friends, one with an 08 Cummins 6speed, and a friend with a 08 F250 6 speed. I'm sure they only make AUTO's now.

Why are we talking about Ford Ranger and Chev Colorado, they aren't even on my radar.

Both GM and Ford left me at the side of the road, both 3 to 4 years old, not beaters.

Because the Chevy has a diesel, and pretty sure the Ranger will too when it becomes available, since the F150 is getting one.

I am a long time Toyota owner, and all 3 of those trucks have peaked my interest. Think it will be 10 years before Toyota does another mild lackluster update to the Tacoma, has me at least looking elsewhere. c'mon Toyota...get yer head out of the sand! ;) :)

Can still get a manual in the Cummins 3/4-1 Ton Rams. Used to be able to get the manny in the gasser, up until recently, IIRC.
