I'm trying to keep it light as I can. I'm only looking at putting functional weight on it. The wheels and tires are heavy as hell each weighing in at 87 pounds, however with the smaller contact patch i've never really noticed much difference in performance. I've done the drop in filter, secondary filter delete, and just installed the header and honestly i think it runs better than it did when I got it. I'd love a shell but don't want the weight. I'm going to build a bed rack out of steel and if that's too heavy I'll sell it and build 1 out of aluminum, already have access to a tubing bender and just need the spool gun. I'm not going to do big plate bumpers if I do a bumper it'll be aluminum as they don't weigh anymore, give or take, than stock. That's part of what I like about this building a functional truck with the 4 cyl you have to put some more thought into what you do with it. In reality sliders, skids, and perhaps a bumper and I'll pretty much be done

    Haha.
    No offense taken.
I drive in deer and axis country. The axis are more dangerous. I like the plate bumpers and 3/16 belly but hate the mpg.

That pot hole that I hit last night is claiming a lot of cars !!! .in the last couple hours I've seen maybe 5 cars with flat tires , bent rims or bumper damage

Actually I do not know what to say with this one case ..why well if you did read it I did ( wanted to see how bad the train wreck was) apparently when he was born the Birth Certificate sex block was left blank and later changed to unknown ... I presume there is or was some sort of deformation etc . My opinion is what he put on his enlistment form is what he is but what the hell do I know lol . I am still stuck with what ever plumbing you have south of your belly button determines what bathroom you use no matter how you "FEEL" that day. I am glad my daughters are as old as they are or I would have assault charges for the first guy walking into the girls room when they were in there .

It's a little harder to work with than steel it's not nearly as maliable especially by hand. If you have a welder with the capability of adding a spool gun you can repair it just like steel pretty much though. If you get a big gouge in it just fill it with weld and grind it down, if it cracks just weld it up

Problem with Alum if it is hard enough to take a hit (there are many alloys but 2024 or 7075 T3 - T6) they are not easily weld able. However, 5052 h32 or 6061 is but they will not take as strong a hit at less then .125 thickness and when you increase the thickness of alum to take the hit you will weigh almost the same as a thinner piece of steel catch 22 . Forming easy bends ie less then 90 deg in hardened alum is not much different then steel with the exception of lay out of the bend perpendicular to the grain or cross axis to the grain but the edges of the alum need to be dressed and smoothed or you risk cracks on bending or from vibrations.

Every time a car drives over it the hole grows deeper and wider . right maybe 4' long almost a lane width and maybe a foot or more deep

as a member on another local thread pointed out to me, he knows my profession, "welding can't be that hard to learn it obviously doesn't require a college education. Here's the ditch lights and a comparison between the stock header and the LCE header

    Nothing fancy

Ah, I remember the snow days too. I don't remember if we had to make them up back then. They are very strict now, even with some of their holidays labeled /snow make up day. They did, however, get excused by the governor for the days they missed because of the shooting.
