Don't do that. As much as they love you, they are tired of you and want a life of their own now.
You've gotten a lot of good advice in this thread(up to your post I quoted) about not making payments and saving and paying cash. But, I have some different advice.
This country can't keep going on the way it is, financing its own debt through quantitative easing. INFLATION is going to hit. Heck it already is. But its going to get worse. The ONLY way to counter inflation is to raise interest rates. Back in the early 80s they jacked interest rates up to 16% for home loans. Imagine what interest on car loans, which is always higher because a car is a bigger risk, was. So, if you want one, IMHO NOW is the time to get one, as long as you think you have a nice stable job with a good stable company, and you don't think you'll lose your job if the economy tanks again.
As far as the girlfriend, if you guys split up, you can find a cheaper place to live, or at that point move in with your folks, or live in your truck. Your young, you'll survive.
Oh, and another thing, talking about used.
I looked and looked. I was initially going to go used, but after thinking about it, it didn't make any sense to me. I found a 2011 with 70,000 miles. My NEW truck, built 1 month before I bought it WITH a longbed cost 8,000$ more than that 2011 shortbed.
So, its great that these trucks don't lose there value fast, but it makes no sense to buy used over new if you can swing it.

im kidding. but it really is simple. at the end of every month, how much money do you have left over? if you have a couple grand, do it. that way you can save some cash and have a the truck you want.
if at the end of every month right now you have exactly the amount the truck payment would be, don't do it.

use a credit union for the loan. best rates on cars.

Also, interest rates are on the rise. My credit Union was up 1-1.5% since spring depending on loan length.

Wrap the ribeye with the chicken, toss both in the trash and go out to eat. Use your credit cards, and pay the monthly minimum. That's what's best for the economy and easiest for you.

I'd be cautious about opening too many credit cards. Too much available credit can be a negative (as I was recently - a year ago - told by a mortgage advisor at TD Bank).

I've got three credit cards, each with a $20-30k limit. I realistically only use one and always pay it off in full at the end of the month. I've got $5-30 worth of recurring monthly transactions (services like Netflix, Spotify, GitHub, etc.) on each of the other two cards, which also get paid off monthly. Keeps them active and in good standing.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the length of time you've had a credit card is important. If you have lots of credit cards and want/have to close some, close the ones you opened most recently, as that'll have the least negative impact on your score.

 

I was told just the opposite about the number. With each one comes more available, keeps the ratio of used to available down. Oh and only close an account if it costs you to have it open, such as yearly membership fees. Yes the length of time open is very important.

 

Whatever you decide to spend on a truck payment, do not underestimate how much free money you'll want each month after living expenses.

At least a couple hundred for entertainment, household expenses, and just all the stuff that comes up in this thing called "life."

Also if you make more $$$ than your girlfriend you should consider paying more of the expenses.

Perhaps it varies from one credit agency to another, or even one lending institution to another. Or maybe they're all just full of shit and telling is total bollocks.

I know I've definitely heard that having tons of unused credit is good for your rating. The TD mortgage person told me the opposite last year. Something along the lines of having too much available credit means you could get in over your head at any point and default on your mortgage or something like that.

Aim for the golden middle, a reasonable balance .
