Duratracs on stock 2016-17 Taco

15 inch rims do NOT fit on our trucks. Smallest size is 16.

 

My 2016 SR5 came with 245/75/16 Toyo All Season tires. I replaced them with the same size Duratracs. They look great. I do have to say that there is some noise compared to the stock Toyos... I would not have heard it in my 2008 but the 2016 is a much quieter truck. Not enough to bother me.

 

smaller rims look great imo and are functional as well if you like to offroad. I wouldn't do steel d to rust issues and weight but there are some really nice and affordable cast alternatives. I don't think they make them anymore but the old MB72s were fantastic and looked a like Cragar Soft 8's

 

with 265 70 17 you don't have to take off the mudflaps, I did take off the little air dam things in front of the front tires after reading some stuff on here.
You can trim your stock mudflaps if you want to shorten them up,
the 265 70 will fit underneath for your spare

 

Got the duratrac because they where the only C rated 265/75/16. Stock suspension and zero rubbing! Really like them getting about 1 mpg lower then stockers. Run 35 psi in them

 

Had Duratracs on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and they performed well. They were a little less stiff ride than BFG ATs I have had in the past and were quieter. However I went with KO2s on my Tacoma and I love them so far.

I don't have my Taco yet, but I've had Duratracs on my Jeep for the past year or so. They have been simply amazing in the snow - probably the best I've ever had in the snow... road noise isn't bad IMHO. Quiet in town and a little hum on the highway. One thing I read about them before buying mine is they won't last very long if you aren't religious about rotating them every 5000 miles. If you do that, they will last a long time. I've got about 10000 miles on mine and I am very happy with the wear so far.

 

I keep hearing how people say they get loud after 20k miles cause they start wearing and you need em switched out at 40k. And have you ever had any blowouts cause of the weak sidewalk everyone keeps talking about. I've been considering the wrangler MT/R with Kevlar or STT Pro as another option.

 

Maybe your skill level is at a higher level than the average guy! You might be fine

 

I put Duratracs on and I love them. Just a heads up to anyone interested, I didn't go with stock size because they aren't winter rated. The exact same size Duratracs are only rated as a passenger tire I believe. I got basically the same size but slightly narrower. I can't remember exactly what size I went with but it was rated as a light truck tire. This way you get the little mountain snowflake symbol on them. I know you guys in the south might not care that much, but it makes a big difference up here in Canada. Especially with your insurance. If anyone is curious what size I can go look.

 

I haven't gotten to 20k miles on them yet, but I do remember reading some people who said the same thing you mentioned - that they get louder later on and then need to be replaced at 40 or 50k. I also read a bunch of reviews that said they easily got 60k+ miles on them as long as they were religious about rotating them every 5k. All I can say is at ~10k mine are doing great. Last week we had about 1' of snow here in CO and I was driving all over the place. They keep their grip very well in deep snow and even packed, icy snow. Treads never get packed full of snow and lose traction.

 

Went with the same tires I'm running, as the spare. 265/75/16 Duratrac. Fits up in sparetire well no problem.

if i turn sharp an hit the brakes the tires edge would run the plastic in the front of the fender.

Yeah I'd appreciate if you can get the size cause I didn't realize the stock size won't work as well

I'm running stock size (265/65R17) on totally stock suspension (sport longbox) with no issues at all. I'm very impressed with this tire. I've got about 20,000km on them now including a fair bit of offroad, city, highway, and a hell of a Canadian winter with a couple of big winter road trips. They've been doing fantastic in the snow and give no excessive noise either.

Been running about 36 psi regularly.

 

I threw 265/70/17 duratracs on my 16 dclb. I love the tire. Dead silent on the freeway and so far great off road. Went with the C rating to save some weight and comfort. They were great in icy and snowy conditions this past weekend in northern California. Overall, couldn't be happier. Especially with a 50k mile warranty

 

I'm seeing a lot of love for the Duratracs. If they sold them at costco id get them in a heartbeat at this point. Main reason is, costco here just has amazing customer service. In the past, i have had firestone and goodyear fuck me for shit.
