I am seriously debating selling my 3 month old Tacoma and purchasing a 4Runner Pro or Limited. Just curious what you guys think it may be worth?

2016 Tacoma DCSB 4x4 TRD Sport Premium/Tech/JBL Window Sticker Was $40,456
    Accessories Incl. In MSRP
    Predator Steps
    Factory Tonneau Cover
    Towing Package
    All Weather Mats

    Accessories I've Added
    OEM Bed Mat
    Limited Homelink Mirror
    Chrome Exhaust Tip
    TRD Black Rims
    BFG 265/70/17 KO2's
    OEM Cargo Divider
    SumoSprings
    Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Front
    Window Tint On Driver/Passenger Doors
Opt7 LED Lights (Headlamps & Fogs)
    LED Interior Lights

The truck has 3800 miles on it and I think I've got around $40k in it with everything. Do you think taking a $4000 hit at $36,000 or $4500 hit at $35,500 is reasonable? Truck is skyline silver metallic and in perfect garage kept condition.

Ask the dealer how much they'll give you.

What did they offer on Trade In?

They offered me $33,000 trade in but I feel that's low given I gave them $38k for it in October plus spent $1600 on wheels and tires, another $350 on suspension, over $500 in OEM accessories, plus another $300 to $500 in misc upgrades. I know the dealer can care less about accessories, but I would think it would help me get at least full KBB value. Maybe I'm dreaming, but $35k on a loaded Tacoma with all of these options should appeal to someone.

None of that stuff adds resale value.

Only you can decide what is an acceptable loss. Only the market will decide what you can sell it for used. And only the dealer or CarMax will decide what a tradein value would be. If you kept your takeoff stock items you could sell or reuse some of your items for the new ride if wanted. But you won't see much extra value with selling them on the truck.

35 to 36k is what they will sell it for. They have to make some money on trade ins. 33k seems right. Accessories mean nothing. Sorry they add zero value.

Come up with a difference you want to pay. And tell them thats what you want. Dont worry about what numbers fall where. If they take off more on the 4 runner and give you less trade in its a wash. Just figure out a number youre comfortable with

If you want more sell it private party... don't trade it in but you're gonna have to wait for the right buyer and that could take a while.

33k you save on tax too so that's about 36k, depends on your state sale tax.
Also, tell them you'll keep all the added accessories for that deal. I am sure they'll do it.

Take off all of your add ons except the billies and the sumos, sell them or garage them. Do a deal and move on to something you really want. It's just money.

If you kept all the stock parts then throw it back to stock, trade it to a dealer and move on. I am sure with such low miles on the accessories that you will have zero issue selling most of them right here on this forum to recoup some of your cash.

According to KBB, private party sale should be around $35.5. I just got a KBB guaranteed dealer buy offer of $33,700. I expect to take a hit, but damn almost $7k? So much for Tacomas and resale value...
I'll probably let it go for $34 or $34.5 and be done with it.

It's all about the money, they make different money on a new truck then they do on a used one. Who would buy a barely used truck for almost the same money as a brand new one when interest rates are not as good and there are zero incentives? Dealer is all about how they can turn the vehicle

I do get it and understand they (Dealers) need to keep the lights on and have overhead.

I just need to either trade it or see if I can find a buyer.

You need to look at the black book price. It's a bit different than what you have posted.

Why would you be selling it? I think you would do well to get $35.5-$36k.

Surely it will fetch $34,500 with 33 months of factory warranty left and you can't buy a '17 similarly equipped Tacoma for less than $38,500 in my area.
