$36.2 OTD, with floor mat and sills for a TRD Sport 4X4, tech, tow, MT. I bought it using a costco deal in OR so no sales tax.

Oh, has premium package as well. Only thing this sport doesnt have was the bed cover and mat. The JBL cant be had with MT.

I agree with that. The TRD sport is just a dressed up SR5 and isn't really worth the extra money upgrading to that trim in my opinion.
With the TRD off road you get crawl control, Multi terrain select, and rear lock differential. Features that justify paying the price premium over a SR5 model.
Both the TRD sport and off road come standard with push button start, factory navigation, and better looking interior than the SR5 but just seem the off road was more bang for your buck.

Got a quote today for 37,008.

    Model - 7542 - TRD SPORT DOUBLE CAB 4X4 V6 AUTO
    Paint - 1G3 - Magnetic Grey Metallic
Interior - 015 - Graphite (Gun Metal Gray)
Prem & Tech Package JBL - FP
    Sport Package - PY
    50 State Emissions - FE
    Tonneau Cover - TC
    Tow Package - TO

That's $1,100 less then any other dealer (8 or 10 of them I have asked) at least.

$41K - the $2K for the trade is an estimate since they have not appraised it yet. It's FMV is closer to $4K so it's a conservative guess. Leather, lights, packages, etc I added etc I added got it above $40K. the truck was $500 over invoice and $3000 under MSRP before i added options.

If you can keep the options at invoice, then you're probably okay. Particularly if that "$500 over invoice" includes all dealer fees / doc fees / etc other than your tax/tag/title. See the prices/options sticky thread; the options numbers there match the sheet I retained from my dealer here in Atlanta.

Get a Carmax appraisal on your trade-in vehicle. If the dealer will give you that much or more (*) trade it to them, otherwise take it to Carmax. Easiest way to keep from getting raped on the trade while distracted by a decent deal on the truck.

Personally I'd fight to get rid of ToyoGuard if you're ordering the truck. When I ordered mine they were able to avoid it. A 32oz bottle of 303 Fabric Guard will do the seats of a DC, and the Detailing thread can get you plenty of info on a paint sealant/protectant (I use Blackfire Wet Diamond). If you need a Roadside Assistance your auto insurance company likely offers it pretty cheap, and a couple oil changes plus four tire rotations aren't real expensive, especially if you DIY.

(*) Some states tax the new vehicle price *less* the value of the trade, so the breakeven point on trading vs selling to carmax would be the carmax offer less the tax on that amount.

Yes, $500 over invoice after all fees, garbage, tax, etc.

Carmax quoted trade in a year ago (and 25000 miles ago) $4,000 - I'm good there I hope. Your dealer was able to remove the Toyoguard and paint protection pkg from the same exact options list on a special order? 3 dealerships in Georgia, 1 in Alabama and 1 in Florida told me they could not. This truck is coming from Toyota of Roswell.

@DosTacos Yes, somehow Marietta Toyota managed to do an order without Toyoguard. Perhaps something's changed.

Just before Labor Day, I emailed my config to nearly every dealer within 2-3 hours requesting their best out the door price and stated I'd be writing an order at the end of the weekend. I left out Marietta Toyota on the email since I'd already gotten a quote from them for Costco pricing.

I then took my lowest quote back to Marietta Toyota and gave them the chance to meet it. They're fairly convenient and include the FWS backed lifetime powertrain warranty. They came close enough that I wrote the order. (another factor in their favor was they have a direct relationship with my credit union, LGE, and were able to write the loan there without me doing a bunch of running around)

FYI: Roswell Toyota told me nobody was discounting 2017 Tacomas. I had quotes for $3000 below MSRP from two other dealers in hand at the time and told them so. Didn't hear back for some reason.

I bought a Tacoma from Roswell in 2005 - They we're the only ones to work with my list well. The worst dealership in my opinion is World Toyota inside 285 on Peachtree. That place is a nightmare.

Years ago when I worked in that area I used them for service; oil changes were so cheap and fast it wasn't worth my time to DIY. At some point in recent years they were bought by Nalley and I don't know if that's had any effect.

Do you guys gets a set discount? I would have figured an employee would get a discount.

I wouldn't say the finance guy cut your rate. You qualify for a certain rate, the finance guy quotes you a higher rate, then tells you he will lower it once you spend more money. I almost didn't buy my truck because I made it difficult for the finance guy to have his crack at taking my money. The dealership gae me a hard time about sending info to my credit union. In the end I did better by using lightstream.com, 1.89%

There's a lot to be said for using a dealer that's associated with your credit union.

I wrote my credit union loan sitting in the finance guy's office at the same rate as if I had gone back and forth to the CU's office. In fact he even advised me that I'd cut a quarter point by upping my loan amount by 2K to hit the 30K threshhold, brought my rate down to 1.3%.

I've also used dealers with slimey finance guys. *shudder* I can see how easily they can screw people over who don't have a business/finance background. I've always gone in with credit union financing at the ready.
