i put my ECGS bushing in and it help a little but the vibe is still there. i think it has to do with the spider gears being such loose tolerance, idk tho just a thought.

    Considerations
    1) Bad tire(s) - Broken belt, or defect that didn't balance out. Have you road force balanced? Rotate wheels to see if vibration moves from body to steering wheel
    2) U-joints bad - maybe not greased and failed early
    3) Driveshaft balance
    4) Bent wheel (porter smack a curb?)

I had the exact same problem. I took it to the dealership. At first they tried to blame the lift but it had been lifted 3 inches for less than 100 miles. They then opened up the front differential and realized it was almost empty. They stated it was a manufacturers defect and I got a whole new front diff free of cost. Its got 5000 miles on the new diff and its starting to do it again when its cold.

Also take a look at this. These were my exact symptoms but it doesnt include the 2016 models... Yet

Lots of other users have had success with replacing the needle bearing

I have similar cyclical vibrations on my 2016 TRD Sport. Notably at 20 mph, 35 mph, and at 50 mph. Drives me crazy. Already taken it in to my Toyota dealership, they confirmed the vibration was there yet they couldn't find anything wrong. Opened a case with Toyota corporate....after going back and forth with them, their final response was that it is "normal" for this vehicle. What a load of crap. I have a list of other issues noted on this forum (rumble strip feeling, shift flares, hard down-shifts when coming to a stop, lugging, sqeaky leafs, buzzy vibrations around 2k rpm....) but this vibration is the one that needs to be resolved soon or this truck is gone.

Had the ECGS bushing installed today along with Trans update and lca holes covered by dealer. So far all is good. Mine was worse after sitting overnight so will see how it does in the morning.

Tried to go the route of the dealership, Fail. According to them, three techs test drove it and apparently could not replicate the vibration after keeping the truck all day. They said that I should come back when it's dry outside as it may be hard to hear the noise due to rain. It has rained here pretty well every day for the last two months and likely will for another two. I was about to ask them to jump in the truck with me and go for a drive. At this point the service writer advised me that due to the 3" lift, if there is an issue, they "may" not cover the cost of the repair. He also said they have never heard of the ECGS bushing and would certainly not install it as that would void the warranty on the diff altogether. They could have told me that when I first got there instead of wasting my whole day. I made a bit of a scene in the lobby. Long story short, I will not be servicing my truck with them ever again, eagerly waiting for my satisfaction survey to come in. I've got the bushing and will be putting it in on my own coin. If you're on the West Coast and have a lift or any other mods for that matter, stay away from Open Road Toyota in Port Moody.

Been a few days and so far the vibration has not returned but will give it a little more time.

On my truck I get a small vibration around 45 MPH. Toyota confirmed it's the rear pinion angle being out of spec. Removing the rear driveshaft makes the vibration go away. Toyota informed that they are working on a fix for the issue which is affecting my truck.

This weekend, I was hauling around 350 or so pounds in the bed and the vibrations were completely gone. That includes the vibration around 25 MPH when slowing down.

    YMMV

When I had my SR with a leveling kit I also notice when I hauled something about 200lbs the vibration was totally gone. My guess is that something in the bed changed the angles slightly. I got rid of the truck. Who builds a truck that you can't lift or level with out this happening. Toyota, that's who.

Actually managed to get toyota to replace my whole front diff. They said that the problem was a manufacturing defect where they didnt put enough diff fluid in so i smoked up the front diff. Fixed the problem for about 5 k miles and now its back.

Get the bushing and have someone put it in for you. Problem solved. Forever.

like he said. Yes low on diff fluid will cause problems but the diff is fine. It's the bearing. Toyota replace my bearing with the same one. It went away for 150 miles. Told them about bushing. They installed ecgs bushing for me no charge. So far no vibrations.

"Cyclical" is a key word... Toyota techs describe the front diff / driver side needle bearing failure symptoms as a "cyclical groan". I'd bet that's what you got going on, OP.

On my 4R, it was quite noticeable from 20 mph to 60 mph, with it at it's worst almost right at 40 mph.

It took me a few trips to the dealer with them blowing me off, and the noise / vibes worsening over about 4,000 miles, but they finally warrantied it and fixed it.

Here's the dealer notes from my service hx (again, this is for a 2014 4R but this is certainly the same issue):

MISCELLANEOUS SERVICE WORK ~|~CUSTOMER RODE WITH TECH 32- - TECH HEARD NOISE AND NEEDS TIME TO DIAG. ~|~FP# 90364-35010 TSB-0026-15 ~|~CONFIRMED CUSTOMER COMPLAINT--CYCLICAL GROAN NOISE--INSPECTED DRIVE TRAIN AND NOTHING OBVIOUS FOUND. FOUND TSB REPAIR FOR THIS CONDITION. CONFIRMED NOISE AND GOES AWAY IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE PER TSB. RECOMMEND REPLACMENT OF THE LEFT FRONT NEEDLE BEARINGS. 12/28
