If it's a door lock don't drill it; just take it apart, spray some dry lubricant in to loosen up the works, and then use gravity and a pick to get it out. You might get lucky and be able to get it out just by tipping it so the key slot is pointing down at the ground and tapping it with a hammer, even.

I saw that. Crazy totals, something like 7-10 feet so far in some places. I'd love to get that around here once a year or so. That'd be sweet!

 

Anyone here have a UTV? The thought of getting one is quite tempting

 

Just buy an old CJ, lol. Can go most of the same places a UTV can, size-wise, and you can drive it on the road too, haha!

I'd love to have one but can't justify the cost. If I had more places to ride, I might reconsider but not in the cards now. I do want to pick up and old 4x4 ATV to tool around on once my boys are a little bit older. What kind are you looking at, work or play?

 

Play. Found a decent price on a RZR800

 

I mean, they're definitely fun. But I'd rather have a regular ATV because you can take it more places off-trail, and since both my parents and the GF's parents have a lot of land that's something for me to consider. But if you're just trail riding then you don't need something small and maneuverable, and a UTV might be a better choice for you if you and your SO are riding the same vehicle.

 

From my reading it's about a 50" width

 

My cousin has a 4 seat Ranger that's actually bigger than the old CJ5 we used to have as a 'farm mule' growing up.
His is something like 150" long and 62" wide, lol.

I agree, get a ATV or old heep. Side by sides are neat, but I don't find them as fun as an ATV. We have a few at work that I use when I go down to WV and they are fun, but an ATV is so much more enjoyable. They're awesome if you're using it to haul stuff around a farm or something. But otherwise ATV or old Jeep gets my vote

 

How goes the battle with the kids today, @Sloth ?

 

I conned my mom to come up last night and watch them today. So better I suppose. At least I don't have to drive an hour out of my way to drop them off/ pick up at daycare. Plus since my daughter had a fever yesterday she's not allowed back at daycare for 24 hours and I've got too much crap to do to take a day off.

 

Nice!!! Yeah, I know all about the fever and daycare thing. Hope she feels better!

 

A friend of mine has a cj-7 that thing fits everywhere in the trails, but it was broken all summer.

 

Thanks . She was just borderline feverish this morning so I think she'll be fine today.

This summer, yes. It's turned into a money pit. Trying to convince him to buy something newer.
